Winchester® Xtended™ Range Turkey Loads Shotshells
Want a high-speed, high-impact load that maintains a tight center pattern at ranges further than you are typically comfortable taking a shot? In 2005, Winchester raised the bar in turkey load performance with the introduction of the Xtended Range line. The tungsten-based shot is 10% more dense than lead and delivers superior downrange performance in terms of core pattern grouping and pellet energy. Consistently round and uniformly smooth shot makes for far fewer flyers from your patterns and results in more pellets being delivered on target. Thousands of gobblers were taken with these loads all over the country during the 2005 spring season. The key to Winchester Xtended Range Hi-Density superior ballistics is the consistent shape, size, weight, and pellet count per ounce of shot. Hi-Density shot consistently provides a high level of performance through tighter patterns and unsurpassed knockdown power. Muzzle velocity of 1225 fps. 10 rounds per box.

Deadly at 60 yards. Don.t recommend to shoot under 30 yards, these shells have a crazy pattern at short yardages. I shoot a Mossberg 835 Waterfowl Edition with a Kicks choke and it mows turkeys down with these shells. I feel very confident shooting these shells. 10 shells in a box, that's 10 dead turkeys!

Last week was the opener for turkey here in the NW.
I was able to take a bird at 44 yard with this new ammo. It hit like a ton of bricks.

I have a Benelli with a Carlson's Turkey Choke rated for lead, copper, and Hevi shot. Would this ammo be ok for that choke?Answers
A:Â
Should work well with the Carlson choke tube. It is like any ammo and firearms. We have to see what works or patterns best. I believe you will have good results! Especially at extended ranges with this ammo.A:Â
Absolutely!! As a matter of fact you can contact Carlson's and have them confirm this as well. The winchester xtended range shot is actually a bit softer "if you will'' than Hevi shot on the hardness scale, so if your choke is Hevi shot approved then you have the green light for shooting these xr's.A:Â
It would be fine with that choke. On most of your turkey chokes they ask you not to shoot steel shot out of them. Most of your newer chokes will shoot lead, Hevi-shot or copper but if your not totally sure you can google it and most of the time find your answer.Great hunting and good luck!A:Â
Yes, these are weak rounds with soft pellets that won't hurt your choke, but why use target rounds these are intended for shooting clays, and a turkey choke is too tight for that purpose. Put a mod choke in and blast away at the clays.Answers
