Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 50 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Shell I have been using Estate and Kent Steel Shot shells. I have had numerous firings where unfired powder and wad particles would blow back in my eyes. It was very annoying. I switched to these Winchester shells and this problem went away immediately. Since I shoot a semi auto not having stuff blow back in my face is very nice. I also notice when cleaning my gun the barrel looked like I had not shot anything. January 29, 2007
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Value! These are my everyday "go to shotgun shells". I am a heavy duty waterfowl hunter in Michigan and I have never had a problem with these shells. I have been using Winchester Epert for about 5 years and I am very happy with the results. Of course you should pattern these shells in every shotgun to determine the best choke for your hunting situation. I use an IC lead choke (which is modified for steel loads) and shoot birds no farther than 35 yards coming into the decoys. hope this info helps! December 16, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by Why spend more This product sits well with me. I do a lot of bird hunting and this shell performes as well as any other of the more expensive products. I kow I can count on it and I have never had a dud shell October 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Steelshot I use steel shot sizes 3,2, and 1's. In that order for ducks and geese. when hunting just geese I use 1's only. Had a flock of 8 geese fly over at about 35 yds. took 3 shots and had 3 geese drop dead . last shot was about 45 yds. 3's first shot, 2's second shot and 1's the last shot. Ones are hard to find but For geese I really like em. October 23, 2013

A:
Heavier Duty Plastic Wad. The wad is probably the best part of this shell. The shot, or pellets, are extemely inconsistent in size and I wouldn't recommend this "budget friendly" ammo to anyone. There are other manufacturers of "budget friendly" ammo out there that provide you much better shot quality and performance.

As you can see in the picture provided, the shot isn't even close to being round or uniform in size. Be careful buying this ammo. Remington Sportman Steel Shot is a much better product in the same price range. This of course is my opinion, as others probably swear by this load... Proof is in the pudding, look at the picture I posted.

They have a plastic wad and yes the shell is "waterproof". Winchester uses a wad that completely seals off the powder from and outside water. Hope this helped.

A:
First, always check to see if you can even fire steel shot through your existing choke/s.

If you are using the stock chokes that came with your gun, I wouldn't recommend going more than modified. If you use an aftermarket choke, they are designed to handle steel shot and you can purchase up to Extra Full chokes. Be careful not to shoot anything larger than BBB to BB through Full or Extra Full Chokes.

If in doubt, ALWAYS contact the choke manufacturer to double check. I would hate to hear about someone destroying their gun, or worse, injuring themselves or someone around them, by firing the wrong shot through the wrong choke.

To answer your question, Improved Cylinder for Decoying Ducks (10-30yds), Modified (15-40yds), and Full or Extended Choke for shots over 40 yards and up to 75yds. Modified and Full chokes also work well for pass shots as well.

I use a full choke for #2-#6 steel. A modified choke for BB-T steel. And an Extra full choke for shot #6 1/2 or smaller steel. Hope this helps.

A:
Improved cylinder should give you a good pattern for over decoys up to 35 yards or so, beyond that modified is probably best. Make sure your gun and chokes are ok for steel! Pattern your gun!

A:
Never use anything tighter than Modified with steel shot. I use either Mod. or Improved Cylinder depending on how I am hunting. Modified will pattern like a Full choke shooting lead.
