great 22lr round i have shot a couple hundred rounds of this ammo in my marlin model 60 with no issues so far, compared to regular 22lr rounds it is not as loud but still packs good power, i have heard that the "subsonic" ammo will not cycle a semi auto, i do not know about the other subsonic 22lr but this ammo works super i just ordered another 1,200 rounds, and this is great ammo for my daughter "9 years old" as its not as loud and she is not as scared of it, and yes wear ear plugs and glasses safety first, thanks November 28, 2009
.22LR Subsonic - Perfection I have fired nearly 2,000 rounds of assorted Subsonic .22LR - and this is by far the best. I was recently asked to cleanse 40 acres of pasture land here in San Diego of a nasty ground squirrel population. Here, those little buggers are known to carry "The Plague", so they just have to go! I started out with CCI & Remington Subsonic rounds, but quickly came to the conclusion that those rounds simply didn't have the knockdown power needed to do the job cleanly. Remington's hollow-point is simply a pinhole, and doesn't open reliably, nor kill cleanly in my experience. Plus, I'd gotten some serious deviation in quality of the CCI rounds I received recently. Seems that ramping-up production has cost CCI some of it's well earned reputation for quality. Looking for a solution to these issues, I got a box of Winchester Subsonic. They've got a great shape, and massive hollow point, that opens reliably. My 10/22 feeds them without a hiccup, and accuracy is top notch & very consistent. To all those who like to go bang, as LOUD as possible while game hunting... you're nutz! This quieter round spooks less game, and is far more accurate at long range, because it doesn't drop from supersonic to subsonic while in flight. This translates into less buffeting while passing through the sound barrier. I've made numerous & consistent hits - on the heads of these vermin - from over 120 yds. If you'll give yourself time to learn the drop of these Winchester rounds, they'll pay REAL dividends in your accuracy at long range. The trajectory isn't flat as a board, but it sure is reliable! Not to worry, this subsonic will still kill them dead with a well placed shot. It also makes a very satisfying POP when the round hits home. Kind’a like a Turkey-Timer button, you’ll know when the roast is ready every time. Even if you're simply punching paper, know that this round will help you show-up your buddies at the range. It's likely more consistent and accurate than the Wally World stuff they're shooting. This is the epitome of walking quiet - while carrying a BIG stick, albeit a .22LR. If you're into accuracy, with good on-game knockdown power... this is your round! Lock & load! June 26, 2009
best subsonic round I have fired about 500 rounds of this ammo so far, I have had no feed issues in my 10/22's, this has also fed well in all of my semi auto pistols, consistant grouping. with out a doubt the best subsonic ammo I have ever fired! April 17, 2009

If the Rifle works using standard velocity ammo, I would recommend this without hesitation.

your gun is rated for 22lr, and bolt actions are typically strong actions. As long as your gun is in good condition, you should have no issues with subs or any other 22lr round, especially since 22lr is a low pressure cartridge.

They should work just fine in any manually operated firearm chambered for LR such as your Model 80. They are very accurate in my Marlin bolt action. Definitely give them a try. I think you'll be impressed. As a side note, the subsonic round doesn't seem to have enough recoil to operate my Marlin autoloader consistently.
