Subsonic performance on small Game I have used the winchester subsonic rimfire on squirrels for the last two years. Over 100 kills have been conducted in both savage BVII as well as rem 541T HB. These guns have been tuned to shoot these bullets into .5inches at 50 yds. These bullets kill squirrels reliably with any solid body hit. Many have been killed with "gut" hits which are not considered immediately lethal. All Hits are confirmed with the characteristic solid thunk, not readily discerned with high velocity rounds many times without alarming nearby feeding squirrels. June 13, 2010
Very Accurate I found that my CZ 452 American .22 LR. absolutely loves this Winchester Subsonic ammo. It has proven to be very accurate on paper for me at 25 to 50 yards. Never tried shooting any farther to see what it will do. No need to as I intend to use this ammo for squirrel hunting. I can't wait to see what this ammo can do on the little nut munchers.... I like the big hollow point and being a 40 grain bullet, I bet it packs a nice whalop on impact...... C'mon ya'll getcha some & lets go squirrel Huntin..... August 9, 2010
great 22lr round i have shot a couple hundred rounds of this ammo in my marlin model 60 with no issues so far, compared to regular 22lr rounds it is not as loud but still packs good power, i have heard that the "subsonic" ammo will not cycle a semi auto, i do not know about the other subsonic 22lr but this ammo works super i just ordered another 1,200 rounds, and this is great ammo for my daughter "9 years old" as its not as loud and she is not as scared of it, and yes wear ear plugs and glasses safety first, thanks November 28, 2009
OK for most rifles I found these ok for my CZ 452 and Browning BL22 lever action rifle but had a very poor performance in semi-automatic pistols and mainly my Buckmark Elite. It may also be the gun because it didn't seem to have enough powder charge to kick back the receiver and I would get quite a few jams. So.....I stopped using Winchester and also sold the Buckmark piston (1 year old) as it had problems also with other ammo brands. Absolutely NO problems with the CZ 452 which will shoot anything I put in it. January 31, 2011

I have had great luck with Winchester Subsonics using my Savage Mark II bolt-action.

If the Rifle works using standard velocity ammo, I would recommend this without hesitation.

your gun is rated for 22lr, and bolt actions are typically strong actions. As long as your gun is in good condition, you should have no issues with subs or any other 22lr round, especially since 22lr is a low pressure cartridge.

They should work just fine in any manually operated firearm chambered for LR such as your Model 80. They are very accurate in my Marlin bolt action. Definitely give them a try. I think you'll be impressed. As a side note, the subsonic round doesn't seem to have enough recoil to operate my Marlin autoloader consistently.
