I purchased the Winchester SuperGrade 30-06 a few years back.
It was a little more than this gun, but for the money, this gun is essentially the same.
In fact, I wish I would have bought a slightly lighter gun. The supergrade, with a scope is around 15 pounds. The good part is that it doesn't move when you shoot. The bad news is that you can't hold it in position very long because of the weight. Its a "deer blind only" gun....
The other part about the supergrade is that I was expecting the finish on the stock to be a little better, but it still is a beautiful burled stock.
I did a LOT and I mean a LOT of up-front research on rifles, and came to the conclusion that I was getting a Winchester.
When it comes to performance, I don't know how you can improve upon dead-center bullseye's at 200 yards right out of the box.
I bore-sighted my gun, and it actually was 4 inches low and right on my very first shot, only because I adjusted it that way...That was stupid. I'll never bore-sight a rifle again. It requires range time...simple as that. Anyway, I adjusted the scope, fired, and could not believe that it was dead center in the target....I proceeded to shoot an entire box of shells, with the next worse shot at 200 being off by 1" low and 1" right. I think that was me though.....AND, this was with cheap old Remington shells. No high-performance overpriced shells necessary..
The Winchester Model 70 is BY FAR my favorite hunting purchase in my 45-year lifetime. I practically cry every year I get it out for deer hunting here in Michigan.
Highly, Highly, Highly recommended. You can NOT go wrong.

by WILL89 BEAUTIFUL RIFLE FOR THE MONEY
This is the first rifle I have ever bought and I believe I made the correct choice in the winchester featherweight. I purchased mine in a 308 win and after having basspro mount the leupold scope I bought with it, it now looks even better!!! I cannot wait to use it this season. If your looking for something other than the Remington 700 this is the go to gun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by HamiltonSC The finest rifle I've ever owned
For anyone after precision shooting this rifle has it in spades.
My Model 70 is a 30.06 and shoots so accurately at the range I can tell the differences between different weight bullets at 200 yards. Mine loves Remington 180 gr. Core-Lokt.
I have been a shooter for almost fifty years and have shot a number of different makes and models. This is my favorite larger caliber rifle by far. It felt right from the first time, and has never failed. The bolt is well machined and still moves smoothly with no play. I don't know how to describe the trigger action because I don't know what to compare it to; it seems right?
I think an experienced shooter will be come a very confident shooter. As a hunter I'm comfortable I can take game at distances I would have taken a pass on before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by pantherhunter45 Best rifle you can buy
I bought this rifle two years ago. It is the best rifle I have ever bought accuracy and workmanship are as good as it gets. the trigger is the best I have ever pulled. I liked it so much I bought a second one in 270 wsm and it's just as good. I used to be a die hard Remington 700 guy and I still like them and and hunt with them but they are just not as high quality as the new Winchesters. The Winchester is the better rifle.
