Glows in the dark!

Its diamond shape means that this jig drops vertically at high speed, allowing you to get down to the fish you're looking for -- even in a heavy drift! Detailed painted fish attracts attention and triggers a quick strike; pre-rigged with single-assist hook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Super effective jig This speed jig is a must on my lure box, I have hooked many yt at Sea of Cortez using color purple-blue, paint color resist lots of hook sets, hook is fine, up I always like to replace it for a bigger assistant hook. March 18, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great jigs for yellowtail These are great jigs for sailtwater fishing they glow-in-the-dark September 20, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by works great i have been using this jig since two years and works great on every fish. July 9, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great lure at a great price I've used this lure on a number of tuna trips in the Gulf of Mexico and it works great. It has a very durablefinish and it is my first choice when I start fishing. As this lure has only one assist hook I add a second. The single hook is the only fault I can find. June 20, 2010

leader?

Details:
being that the hook is at the top do you use any type of leader and does that impede the performance of the jig? It seems that any toothy creature would cut i right off?

Answer this Question

Answers

A:
I fish for tuna in the gulf so I use 40# florocarbon leader on a 5 oz jig. Based on the number of fish I've caught The leader isn't a problem. I haven't tried wire or cable type leaders which would be more appropriate for the more toothy species.

A:
I use them for tuna and even at night tuna are are sensitive to braid. I tie mono leaders to my jigs and lose more than a few leaders and tuna to the occasional barracuda... I have tied wire to leaders when fishing for other types of fish, so if they are not leader shy, you should be fine with leaders.

hook positions?

Details:
I am wondering why the hooks are by the eyes. I can see why they would be there for the drop, but not for trolling or jigging. Can someone shed some light on the hook position?

Answer this Question

A:
When fishing for yellowtail they go for the head (red eyes) but for the most part yellowtail take the hole jig (20 to 30) pound fish. I change out the ring that is attach to the jig, I put a larger ring on them and then put a hook on each side,of your leeder or line. one long 2" and one 1" long. this gives you a better chance. when jiging these lures they dance all around. They do hook fish

A:
Can't tell you how they work, only that they work really well. I've seen several people add a treble hook to the bottom of the jig as there is a loop there. I've fished side-by-side with people using this "stinger" set up and did not see any particular advantage to the number of hook ups or fish caught. The jig only comes with a single assist hook and I do add a second. I feel that the second assist hook helps but couldn't tell you how much.

A:
most of the strikes will happen as the jig falls. as it falls it turns and the hooks lay against the side of the jig, most fish strike at the head of their prey so the hooks are positioned where the fish is most likely to grab the jig. these jigs are great for jigging which they were designed for but for trolling, there are better trolling spoons/jigs out there

I have tried tying the line on both ends. What works best is tying on the top and adding a hook on the bottom
