Just got back from two weeks in the OBX, and made several trips to the canyons. Used these Williamson Ballyhoo combos behind my 23 foot boat, without outriggers and with only 5 rods in the water. Used in conjunction with Boone 5 bird daisy chains, we were able to call up Yellow fin, Blue Marlin (one catch and release) and Mahi from 75 to 150 foot depths. I would prefer not spending my vacation prepping baits, and these Williamson lures delivered. Plus I didn't have to deal with stinking hands:)

I can't believe this crazy lure catches fish but it does.
Sailfish, dolphin, bonita and tuna.......so far.
Probably needs a stronger hook and some stronger 100-150lb test leader. I lost 2 fish that took the lures with them. One hook broke, one leader broke. The other 3 I caught.
Crazy looking but does catch fish.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by PalmBeachSailfish Great rig
this is a very high quality product with only one disadvantage. this rig is great i was able to get a bite from the elusiive early bird wahoo. but the product failed set. i belive otherwise that was caused from the fact that we were trolling at 11 knmots and the product was made for a max of 10. Best artificial ballyhoo out there. but is a one timer for toothy fish since the wahoo bite the ballyhoo in half and cut the skirt.

can i add another tail hook ,and is it ok to replace the leader line with a wire leader .?Answers
A:Â
Sure you could replace the mono with wire. But it has two hooks already so I wouldn't put 3 on myselfA:Â
Per the manufacturer: The action would be ok if it is rigged with up to 200lb line and 10/0 hook. Bigger than that would kill the action. Another tail hook can added by threading a wire leader through the tail and attaching to the front hook. Thank you!Q:Â

Can these be re-rig with stronger hooks & leader? What size hook is it rigged with now?
Answers
A:Â
Absolutely...! I think the hook is a 7, but not positiveI lost a big sailfish with this lure because the tip of the hook broke. I put bigger hooks on. These lures attract alot of fish but the fish tear them up pretty easy. Be prepared to buy another one after a few bites.
