Safety This case is perfect for holding you money rods or just the only two you own. For me I keep my Alaska Salmon rod and reel in here as well as my trout rod and reel to. I made a reel cusion for inside the case and ot help keep them from shifting during travel. The starp in nice because you can throw it over your shoulder and start hiking. I did think it was kind of over priced, but you have to pay what they say. October 6, 2010
Good Purchase Rod and reel cases for 3 piece rods are difficult to find and I was pleased to find this one. I just got back from a 10 river float in Alaska and the rod case did an excellent job at protecting my rods and reels. My only complaint is that there are no dividers in the individual tubes to protect the rod pieces from rubbing together so I had to use rod socs which make it more difficult to store and remove rigged up rods. great nicely protects my 4 pc. rod with the reel attached. Handy for the trunk and those after work stops at the fishing hole. July 11, 2010
Great purchase This fly road case is excellent. It keeps the rod sections and reel together and will prevent any broken road tips. Great for travel. June 1, 2010

...not sure I understand.
If the case is capable of carrying a 9' rod, why the difference between 2,3 or 4 piece?
Is there compartments inside specifically for 2, 3 or 4 piece?

A:
the length of a case for a 4 piece 9' rod is shorter than one that says it is for 2 or 3 pc 9' rods specifically. You can fit a 2, 3, or 4 pc rod in a 2 pc case.

A:
9'/4' = 2#25" or 2'3"# 9'/2' = 4.5' or 4'6". Same rod length, different section lengths.

You can buy a two piece rod tube that will hold a 9' rod in two sections. It's going to be longer than a tube capable of holding only a 9' rod in 4 pieces though.

All rod sections fit in one tube section, it's just the tube is only long enough to hold a 9 foot rod in 4 pieces, as opposed to 2 pieces.

A:
I was in the store today looking at these. Most any size will hold a 4 piece 9 foot rod.

There are NO inside dividers or compartments. Unless you have a rod sock to shove in there, your rod will bounce around and get beat up. Bass Pro also sells a Redington case that DOES have the dividers and is much better.

I would think the single rod up to 9' 3 piece case would fit a 10' 4 piece rod as the rod sections on a 9' 3 piece are 3', and the rod sections on a 10' 4 piece are 2.5'.

At least 5 feet. It would have to be 5' to fit a 2 piece 10' rod.

Yes, the doube case will fit two - four peice rods. There is a divider which will keep the rods seperate inside so they don't knock into each other during transportation. The same thing with the reels. Each has it's own reel compartment.

I use it for fly rods and reels and I believe the reel case may be a little narrow for a bait casting reel.

Currently I carry from 7WT to 10Wt rods and reels. The 10Wt reels have plenty of room. I think you could carry larger reels. I use all large arbor fly reels too.
