Works fine for me I was worried this wouldn't work after reading such mixed reviews. I saw a lot of pictures of other people's tubes, though, and when I saw what a popular rod holder this is, I got two for myself. I have not problem with it at all. It adjusts easily while I am fishing and does what it's supposed to do for a lot less than others rod holders on the market. I will say, though that it has a tendency to slide down if the strap is not tight enough, but if that happens I just pull it back up. No big deal. Light weight, doesn't take up much room, does the job, and didn't cost much money. May 26, 2012
Not-so-good The idea is good the real thing does'nt work. It only has one strap to hold it on the tube so you better have a leash to save your equipment. I don't think it is really meant for a fly rod-n-reel. The Scotty brand is by far a much better deal,. July 24, 2011
Quick Fix and it was Awesome I was a little disappointed upon first inspection of the rod holder. The plastic lever that holds the rod holder at a particular angle is held on with a half inch metal cylinder. Well, 2 out of the first 5 times I attempted to lock the holder at any angle, the little cylinder fell out; Thus rendering the entire holder completely useless. Undaunted, I went to the basement and found a nut and bolt that fit the bill. I attached the lever with the nut and bolt and boom, problem solved. So, if you are remotely handy and willing to go to your basement or the local hardware store to find one tiny replacement piece then I would recommend this product. Or you could take the same amount of time as you would fixing the problem and write a scathing review on this website as others have. Your choice. Without the fix I would give this product a 1 out of 5. With the quick fix I happily give this a 5 out of 5. And so I gave it a 3 out of 5 because that would be the average score. July 21, 2010
Adequate.....barely. The rod holder comes in two pieces. One part straps around your tube, the other holds the rod and slides into the first piece. Here's one of two problems with this holder: The piece that holds the rod is constantly falling out what I carry the tube, load it and even sometimes launch it. If it falls off w/o you noticing, you don't have an option of just replacing the missing part. You need to buy another one. The second problem, it that in winds, the rod can actually get blown out. I almost lost two rods when kicking around in winds on Crowley and using this to hold a second rod. It should have some means of wrapping a stretch band or something around the rod just above the reel. Not sure if I'll get another one, to replace....again, the missing part. June 24, 2010

A:
Absolutely. I used it yesterday in a beautiful lake in the Rockies. No problems. It held both my ultralight spinning combo and my 5 wt fly rod and reel.

A:
Yes it can. Be careful if there's wind as I've had my extra rod blow out of it a couple of times and started to put a wrap of my fly line around the base. Also when you care your tube, if the holder more or less remains attached as does mine, the two pieces have a tendency to separate if you don't notice, you'll end up loosing the top part that holds the rod.

It will hold a fly rod just fine but it will fall apart when you try to lock it in to position.
