White River Fly Shop's Intruder Fly Reel is an outstanding value! This reel incorporates all the best features of reels costing much more. From the rapid retrieve large-arbor design and rugged disc drag, to the one-way bearing that makes it easy to switch from left- to right-hand cranking, this reel has plenty to offer. Other features include a quick-release spool and, of course, durable all-aluminum construction.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Excellent buy I received this reel today. For the price you cant go wrong. The function, fit and finish seems like it could be a reel that costs much more, what a bargain. I havent used it yet. I dont see a problem there. Seems to work as I like a reel to work. To change from left to right is easy. Remove spool, pop out a clip, flip the bearing over, replace clip. Took all of about a minute or so. Thanks Bass Pro Shops. February 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by really great value Bought this reel for a Speckled trout trip to the gulf, since backing capacity isn't really as much an issue with trout I loaded a 100 yards of 20# backing and still had room for a little more with 8wt line. The drag was very smooth and I was very surprised at how smooth the reel is overall. It handled a decent sized ladyfish with no problem. For somebody that's getting into fly fishing on a budget I think it would do a fine job. I fish with a sage rod and reel here in Arkansas for trout and small mouth bass and didn't have a need to spend big money on an 8wt setup since I may only use it once a year on vacation and it did great. After every outing where it came in contact with saltwater it got cleaned with freshwater and it looks as good today as it did when carried it out of the store. Even if I got to go more often I don't know that I would upgrade since this reel has done so good. March 31, 2013

Hi, you will want to remove spool by actuating spool release lever. Turn over spool and remove bearing retainer clip (wire piece). Remove bearing, and flip over. Replace bearing retainer clip. Put spool back on reel. Thank you

Yes, there should be no clicking or resistance (at least from the reel itself) when retrieving.
