you get what you pay for i guess. ive used much nicer nets for the same price. that being said, for a beginner i would not recommend this one you dont want to start out with problems and im worried as soon as i get a fish in there that the net will fall apart

I bought this net on sale 3 years ago, $12.99. Great net for the price. The varnish has now worn off and the wood is starting to dry and crack, no big deal, I payed $13 for it. Tough and reliable. I use this net for everything, I fly fish from float tubes and pontoons, wade rivers and creeks, and use my boat. The only situation that I dont like this net is in the boat, its not long enough, but that isnt what its made for and i have a long handle aluminum net that lives in the boat. Works wonderfully with the BassPro magnetic release/stretch lanyard.

I purchased this net specifically for trout fishing. Hooked about a 15" rainbow trout. The fish fit in the net nicely.
There are two things I didn't really like about this net. The treble hook that was on my lure completely got caught in the next making it very difficult to remove the hook from the trout's mouth and then removing it from the net.
The second thing is the quality. The wood handle itself and the net appears to be of good quality, but the stitching from the netting to the wooden handle seems a bit weak. I think over time, I will have to replace this net. Not a bad buy for getting the job done though.
