White River Fly Shop Hobbs Creek HC Series Fly Rod
Hobbs Creek Fly rod
I bought a 7' 4W Hobbs Creek fly rod and combined it with a Hobbs Creek HC1R large arbor reel. The system balances nicely and casts very smoothly with the Hobbs Creek WF 4 F fly line. Overall I am very happy with this setup, the only complaint might be that I wish the fly line came in another color besides orange. I am not new to fly fishing but have picked it up after a long layoff. Early on I had the fortune of using a lot of fine equipment early on. I do not miss a thing with this system.

I own other high quality rods (Winston and Hardy) and consider both those manufacturers products respectable and very reliable, however there's absolutely nothing wrong with the Hobbs Creek rod. I fish the 6 wt. very often and think it performs just fine. Loads and shoots line as expected, handles fish without problem, and is considerably durable. Obviously it's not the same "quality" or as aesthetically pleasing as a $700 rod, but I have no qualms about loading it up in the car next to my more expensive rods. In fact, sometimes I'll run the line through the Hobbs Creek and leave the other rods in the car.
As a side note for the less experienced fly fishermen out there, I myself would NOT purchase this rod as a SALTWATER rod, as it will more than likely (definitely) not live up to your expectations. It's got some parts on the reel seat that are "saltwater unfriendly."
Good luck, tight lines, and I hope you find one that suits your needs!

Great so far
I recently bought this rod in 7'6" 4wt 4 piece to use on some of the smaller native trout streams in southern WV. I chose the 7'6" because I usually fish on smaller streams with a lot of canopy covering them.
I have only tried this once so far, for about an hour on a larger stream (I was eager to use it and stopped there on my way home from work one evening), Even on the larger stream, I was able to easily reach the other side with ease. The lightweight design made casting very comfortable and the crisp action really let me punch through the wind and place my fly accurately and cleanly on the water.
And the rod is beautiful.

I purchased this rod for a recent trip to the Madison River. I hadn't fly fished since I was a young boy who took interest in an old bamboo rod found in my fathers garage. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to compair this rod with, I purchased it for quality and price, the reviews really help me choose this rod. I was able to put together a nice entry level fly fishing package for an affordable price. The Hobbs Creek fly rod performed excellent and most importantly caught fish. I left this rod with my son in Montana and the next day he sent me a picture of a beautiful brown that he caught that morning using this rod. I plan on purchasing 2 more to outfit my wife and myself again.
