I recently bought a pair of these for myself and my son to canoe the boundary waters. A jungle boot had been suggested but I thought these looked good. After a nine day trek my boots and my feet held up much better than some of those whose jungle boots were falling apart. My sons boots did well but with my 225 pound frame and canoe portages I was concerned but not any reason to worry. I expect to get more use from my boots, my son will probably outgrow his before they wear out.

I bought a pair of these and when I got home to see how they fit with my waders, one of the metal lace hooks broke right off. Possible factory defect, but I'm glad I didn't drive all the way out to my spot to find this problem. I'd say spend another $20 and get korkers.

"Bought these last week to replace my 5 year old Orvis boots that were beginning to look a bit tired after over 100 days fishing.
The new Bass Pro Shop boots literally fell apart on Day 1. The sole on one of the boots came loose! This was compounded by the fact that the new Bass Pro waders I'd purchased with the boots leaked out of the box. Upon examination, it is clear that some of the inside seams had not been glued well, or at all. Fortunately I had brought my old waders and boots and was able to finish the trip with them. Needless to say, I'm ecstatic that I saved my receipt and both items will be returned. I'll go back to my 5 year old Orvis waders and boots that actually work!"

I use these boots to fish ponds with sandy or silt bottoms. I wouldn't purchase them for fishing rocky streams (as a felt bottom works well for this) and for the folks who claim they are slippery, they need to either research products or ask BPS staff what boots work for specific applications. Mine work great for where I use them. Only downside would be the weight---just a bit heavy. But since I didn't spend hundreds on them, I don't expect them to be extremely lightweight.

I have used them without cleats/spikes and found them as good as felt. However, I don't see why you couldn't add screws/spikes if you wanted to.

My waders are a little larger than my foot so I need a larger boot. At the moment I have gortex boots that are lightweight and that works for me. But they have felt bottoms and I don't want to carry snot algae around or go through the trouble of using hot water and soap each time I use them.Answers

Based on my experience, these boots run LARGE. I am a size 9 and found a size 8 boot fits well with my SealSkin booties that I wear for wet wading. For regular boot foot waders I would try a size 9 (my regular shoe size) to start with.A:Â
Wader boots tend to run about a size big which seems to be enough to accommodate for waders, and I think they are pretty darn light but I'm used to a heavy combat boot. If you let your felts dry out completely before you use them again all of the algae will die though.I'm a fan of korkers

No, I can't. The tread pattern on mine is like a stretched out line of "z's"running from side to side. The sole also rises up and around the the top of the boot somewhat[guards against oystershell cuts].Q:Â

Are size 12 boots sized to allow for a wader bootie, such that they would fit one who wears a size 11 street shoe?

Technaically no, but most of the time you need to use one size larger than your street shoe with neopreme bootied waders.A:Â
