needs help! This reel is solid..,but has a sharp edge of the spool that cuts into the backer if not pulled out exactly straight. Too bad.nice other than that. January 25, 2011
Enjoyment I have now used this Reel for three years. I brought it for my first Fly Rod which I still use on Creeks, Streams, and lakes around the Finger lakes region, and its shows it trailblazer features when I go kayaking Fly fishing in the Adirondacks. I have caught Trout, Bass, Perch, and Bluegills just to name a few. This reel has become my reel of "enjoyment". December 15, 2010
verry good purchase verry good reel for the price. good looking. performs well July 1, 2010
Good to start Over all I thought that this product was vary good for a entry-level angler. Really good in all areas but i thought that the disc drag on the reel was a little hard even though you could adjust it. But great really to start out or for life! June 12, 2010

purchasing parts

Details:
I have a 5/6 dogwood among many other reels. The plastic spool cap has broken and the internal parts (lever etc.) lost in the water.
Can I purchase parts for this nice little reel?
Thanks, Harry

Details:
I bought the white river dc56 combo and it works great.

I had to take the reel apart because the line got stuck underneath, when I took the cap off the top with the two screws a small v shaped piece of metal was loose. It is longer on one side than the other, I assume this holds the spool on. I am not sure there is also a flat curved piece of metal that sits on a raised circle.

Thanks for all the help.

Before I loaded the reel I switch it to left hand retrieve. The problem is that it free spools when I strip and creates a birds nest.

You will have to take the hole line off and than respool it all back on to change it from left to right! Found this out the hard way as you did.
