Can't beat the price. Great starter vise. Hooks never come loose. C-clamp can be difficult to get really snug, but all things considered, a good buy.

I have tied at least 500 flies with this vise and used it to display flies that I have tied, and have not had a single problem with this unit, I just put a size 6 salmon hook in this puppy with no problems at all, it will take a much larger hook, it works just about as good as the regal, I would rather own a Regal but this one was $211 cheaper! I thought I was buying a cheap vise that would soon fall apart but it is 6 years later and this guy is still chuging along, it is easy to load and tie flies with, and it is a rotary vise for trimming hair on muddlers, this is a best buy...

Too hard to squeeze
This hurt my hand every time I tried to squeeze it open.
I thought it would work like a a higher end product, not even close. I went back to my old vise.

Good intermediate vice
I started with an AA Vice and quickly upgraded to this model. The vice is manufactured under different names, but they are all the same model out of India. My only issues with this vise are the Thumb Screw that holds the shaft in place fell apart and I have to tighten the C-Clamp every once in a while. A 25 cent Allen Screw was easy enough to find as a replacement for the Thumb Screw. I have tied hundreds flies from size 20 to size 4 on this vise. I think it would be nice if the vice came with a bobbin rest as well.

First hook I put in the vise was a size 22 dry fly hook, rock steady. I dont go below size 24 just because its to much of a pain in my opinion, but I dont think it would have a problem with down to a 28. Just make sure you have the hook in the jaws right because spring loaded jaws like these can cut finer hooks off.
The directions say larger that #6 "For larger hooks ( size 6 and larger), align the hook bend with the curved groove in the Vise Jaws adn rock the hook back and forth as you close the jaws (this will lock larger hooks in position)" Hope this helps
