We've overhauled our hardest-working White River Fly Shop® Classic Series Fly Outfits
from top to bottom. In addition to speeding up the rod actions, we've added models and freshened up hardware and components. Handle style varies depending on model.
On Standard outfits, our Classic Large Arbor Fly Reel
utilizes the best elements of a large arbor chassis, while providing the generous backing capacity for traditional Dacron® braids. The rugged frame and spool are forged and machined rather than die cast for optimum rigidity. An in-line multi-disc drag is enhanced by a 1-way roller bearing, and features a precise 720º range of adjustment.
Our Classic Ultra-Light Fly Reel
is the reel chosen for Small Stream outfits. Less than 2.5" in diameter, the cold-forged machined jewel is surprisingly rugged. A spring tension click pawl provides enough resistance to prevent overruns while remaining lightweight and reliable. Anodized pewter color finish and rimmed spool.
Standard Classic Fly Rods
come in 4-pieces and cover traditional lengths in the 3–8 weight range, ranging up to 9'. If you like dry fly fishing, there are some "blueprinters" here. Small Stream Classic Fly Rods
range all the way down to 2-weight sizes. These come in 3-pieces and range from 5' 6" to 7' 6" lengths. These models feature a "Cigar" handle.

by Flyfishjetset Hoping for a great combo
Bought this to fish the small streams in Michigan and in New Mexico. The idea is great, but the quality leaves a lot to be desired. I took this combo to the upper penn in MI and was fishing the Iron River, the drag broke the second time out. The Brooke's I was catching were no bigger than my hand so the drag should not have broke. I wish it were better quality. I went and bought the TFO finesse rod and a TFO quality reel... Haven't had any problems with this other combo... Cmon BP... Make better quality please! You can see the size Brookies I was catching in the pic... Should not have broke the drag!!!!!

I bought this outfit (3 wt, 6-6") not knowing exactly how it would work on the local brook trout creeks. I thought the rod would be either too wimpy or too stiff, after all it is only $199. I was blown away! What an absolute pleasure to fish with. It casts beautifully, lands softly, and turns a 10" wild brook trout into a tarpon. I can't say enough about this outfit. I would suggest it to anyone. Thanks Bass Pro

The small streams (5’ -15’ wide) that we have here in the high desert of New Mexico can make fishing with an 8’ rod challenging to say the least. I saw these Classic small stream combos at BPS and took a chance on two of the combo packages they list. We have the 5’6” 3wt SKU 2110597 as well as a 6’6” 4wt SKU 2110599.
This is super light setup and a real pleasure to fish with. It maneuvers through the thick stream side vegetation with far less drama than that of an 8’or 9’ foot rod. The reel is the diameter of a soda can and the fit and finish is superb. I had some skepticism regarding the compression rings that secure the reel, but found they work without issue, and as an added bonus they are very low profile and reduce additional weight from the rig. I should also mention the rod is sent in a suitable rod sock.
With the light actions I have notice that I can detect the lightest of strikes/pickup that I am sure I have been oblivious to on my 5wt rod. It also should be mentioned that the smaller brown trout (4”-6”) that often occupy are local rivers are a hoot to land on these combos.
I am proud to have these in my collection and will really enjoy showing them off as well as offering up to some of my fishing partners. No doubt they will soon have one in their inventory.
