This spring I purchased several packages of these hooks to tie Chernobel ants for a fishing trip to Wyoming. They withstood not only the tuff fighting fish but also the sage brush and willow thicket that surrounds the smaller streams and rivers. I did loose some flies but no hook breakage at all. I will be puechasing more White River Fly Shop hooks for my trip to Vermont next year. Thanks for the quality porduct at a reasonable price.

I would still steer you in the direction of a true steelhead/salmon hook because the steelhead/salmon hook is made for the incredibly hard and powerful fight associated with anadromous fish. Part of what makes a steelhead hook hold up so well is the very long folded back eye - it will not pull out or open like on a traditional streamer hook. You know how hard these fish bite (like a hammer), and fight (like a pig).Try the Gamakatsu T10-6H Salmon/Steelhead hook. Excellent results.
