My wife and I both picked up the new 270 fly reel.
Very light and picks up line quickly due to the large arbour. We used it for Northern pike last spring and fished them this winter in South Florda for Reds and Snook. They now have at least 60 days in the salt and fresh water and are standing up well with no problems.
We are very happy with the 270 outfit.

this reel is junk. had it for a month, took it light saltwater fishing in the atlantic. when i got home, i decided to take it apart to clean it and reassemble. the head broke off the screw on the drag knob; nothing holding it together now.
i purchased as part of the white river 270 outfit; priced individually, this reel costs $170.00. i wouldnt recommend this reel to my worst enemy; there are MUCH nicer reels out there for the money. overall, it felt cheap and flimsy right out of the box. i should have trusted my gut and sent it back immediately. not cool when you pay $350+ for an outfit and get this in return (sure, it's not a custom made high-end reel, but c'mon, i have $50 reels that are superior to this one)
like the title says, garbage

This reel is lightweight for its large size. It has a true large arbor. The drag is smooth and handled small steelhead fine. It looks very nice as well, just like a loop reel. The part i do not like is there is an outer basket frame to it, which feels pretty flimsy. I worry it is going to bend and my spool won't go back on. If this reel was designed better I may have given it 5 stars.

REEL SEIZED UP AFTER TWO TRIPS IN SALTWATER!!! I have fly fished for 25 years, having held a few IGFA records, and I am personaly involved in the fly-fishing industry, with my own business. This the "ONLY" reel I have ever had, that has done this, or has had any major issues!!!
The price for a machined aluminum fly reel =great, (Only because it is probably manufactured in China.) Which I don't have a problem with.
The looks of the reel=great.
The drag= good
PROBLEM- Aluminum spool on stainless steel shaft, that isn't well sealed up, with very little oil.
I do like the reel overall. I will exchange mine to try another one. But, know that it will be a high maintenace reel, and that I will have to put some lithium or some kind of waterproof grease in it, after every use.
To help...............Bass Pro needs to put a stainless steel sleeve in the spool, where it rides on the shaft or something else.
