the one guy who said it was tip heavy should have got the XPS balance kit. i have two 6 foot hm-85 and three 7 foot hm-85. use power pro line or fireline, xps balance kit and you can actually tell the difference between a perch and a blue gill it is so sensitive. you can tell if your jig is bare or still has a piece of worm left. i am not kidding, you can feel the moss on the rocks, mud versus gravel. they are truely amazing. one bit of advice, if you use the super braid line like power pro, loosen you drag a bit when jigging. it sets the hook so much better.

I own two of the six foot hm85 rods, which are paired up with a symetre 1500 reel. The rod is very light and extremely sensitive. I also purchased the xps weight kit which allows the rod to be perfectly balanced. I use them mostly for walleye, vertically jigging or casting jigs. They also work well for small mouth bass. It took some time to get used to the rod as it was so sensitive I was feeling things I had never felt before and was setting the hook into nothing. The walleye sig. rod is lighter, more sensitive, and more comfortable to hold when compared to my St Croix rod which was about $10 more expensive. I would not buy another rod for jigging, and hope basspro continues to make these rods for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by javelin jay excellent rod for the money
Unlike other Bass Pro rods this series actually has a hook keeper. I use the rod to fish smallmouth and walleye. Rods very sensitive when it comes to feeling bites in deep water (20-40' ) for summer walleye when vertically jigging. Lots of backbone for hauling in smallmouths on weed flats and still a light enough tip to load the rod for tossing small baits.
