Rated 5 out of 5 great downrigger for the money I bought this for trolling for salmon on lake ontario. This product work as it should with no problems at all. It is made very well and requires some assembly but it is very simple. The only problem I had was the fact that the screw to hold the rod into the unit was missing. A quick trip to the hardwere store sloved that. I have a 6lbs weight for trolling I mount the downrigger to my transom on my lowe 1605 deep v boat and there is no problem at all. The clamp holds the down rigger very well to the transom and the whole unit is solid as a rock.....well worth the money! May 19, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 Poorly Designed! Purchased this downrigger for use on a tracker bass boat because I didn't want to drill any holes and this was one of very few options with a clamp mount. First , I had to fabricate some rubber pads to go on the clamps so that it wouldn't scratch up my paint. After mounting the downrigger and trying it out for the first time, the arm ended up being about 9" below the water line. With the weight attached, I had to reach over a foot down grab the weight to attach my line. It was ridiculous. The unit would work well if Walker had anticipated the need for a higher arm angle. This downrigger will only work on boats with high sidewalls. It won't work on a bass boat and nowhere on their website do they provide you with this convenient information. When I contacted Walker to see if they could re-work the hole angle for the arm, they told me to sell the unit I bought and purchase a different model of theirs! Incredible! September 22, 2010
