Purchased these binos after they were recommended by a friend and member of a video production company that specialized in hunting Elk in the western states. After further researching the vortex product line I was definitely intrigued enough to begin making a decision on which model would fit my needs.
I wanted the HD glass and stay under $500 dollars. There were other companies that fit these requirements, but none had the warranty that Vortex offered. Additionally, I wanted to see what western hunters (particulary Oregon and other North Western States) had to say about the vortex products.
I selected the Vortex Talon. And after the first weekend using them hunting for deer and black bear in southwestern Oregon, I can say without a doubt that this is the best set of binos that I have ever owned or used in the field.
They are light weight, and provide an excelent ,crisp image particularly at low light. I experienced no eye strain after several hours of glassing various terrain. They appear to be well constructed and I have little doubt that they will hold up to they typical and noteworthy use and abuse that I may subject them to.
I was not too impressed with the strap they come with, but that is easily solved with a harness system. The soft carrying case was a nice touch. The Talon does not have a locking focus nob, which I would liked to have seen, but this is available on the more expensive models.
If you have similar requirements in a set of binos, I am sure that you will not be disapointed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Cougrdt76 Exceptional durability and clarity
I picked up a set of the Talon HD 10x42 binoculars back in June for this up and coming hunting season. They are by far the best set of glass I have ever purchased. The crystal clear clarity and rugged durability in my opinion can not be beaten. I used them to successfully harvest a Nevada Antelope and Elk this season. They helped me find animals the other guys in the group had glassed over repeatedly without ever seeing. I definitely would recommend them to any hunter looking for a great set of binoculars at a very reasonable price that they would be looking to have in there pack for many years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Ozzman Awesome Bino!
I received these from my wife as a gift (that I made sure I got) and have been thoroughly impressed. Edge to edge clarity, great light gathering, crisp clear picture, rugged and durable outer, great in weather from 110* to -15* sun, rain, snow, sleet or hail.... One thing I will mention, and is something I have noticed with my other vortex binos and spotters I have had is that the eye pieces tend to come loose and even fall off on occasion. This has allowed some dirt and gunk to get into the eye piece that I've had to clean out with a can of air fairly regularly. It is easy to fix, Vortex suggests you just use a thin coat of rubber cement to take care of it and you'll be good to go. Overall, you will not go wrong with the Talon HD's. They are IMO, the best value out there for an HD binocular!

went to a local sport shop and was looking at the new binoculars in the showcase. Had Leupold and Nikon and a couple new ones to me, Vanguard and Vortex. They had the Diamondback and the Talon HD. I have looked at the big name optics before and they have good glass in them so i decided to look at the Vanguard and the Vortex. Looked through the Vanguard first and they were good but not good enough for me. So i picked up the Diamondback and thought i was seeing things. Tried the Vanguard again and then told the guy to put them away. Picked up the Diamondback again - i was floored by the sharpness of the glass. The guy behind the counter said try the Talon - O M G - yes that was my first thought when i looked through the Talons. Even walked over to the 3D range and it really looked 3 dimensional looking through the Talons ! Clarity and sharpness unmatched by any other binoculars i have seen in my 51 yrs. Had a small bit of sticker shock but then was told about the lifetime warranty reguardless of the problem you have and i decided right then and there - my next binoculars will be the Vortex Talon HD and nothing less !! No i could not afford them on the spot but i have started my own binocular fund and will purchase them asap! Looking at changing all my optics to Vortex whether it is rifle scopes or my spotting scope. Thanks for a quality product.
