Perfect Range Finder I'm in a position that I get to test out quite a few different optics. Most of them have marginal differences between models and manufacturers. But, the Ranger 1000 range finder truly takes the cake compared to others out there. Not only does it give range to target effectively and consistently, but the red HUD separates it from the pack. Most HUDs out there are gray/black and don't show up well on dark surfaces or dusk/dawn hours. And if that weren't enough, it has the VIP warranty that says I'll never have to worry about it. It has become my go-to tool to range targets. December 4, 2014
Good Rangefinder needs a little improvement. I have had this rangefinder for two years. It works great and is Vortex durable. The only complaint I have, is when you first activate it you have to click the measure button to turn it on and the click again to measure. I would like it to measure with one click. Great tool I have used other rangefinders and this one tops all of them. Have repeatedly ranged things outward of 900 yards multiple times with little or no variation of the reading. Good quality glass. November 27, 2014
Great ranging with the Ranger! Bought a Ranger 1000 in August getting ready for archery elk season. Was quickly pleased with the red reticle, adjustable brightness levels, and the ability to get the angle corrected yardages. The Ranger 1000 is very simple to use and a nice compact size. The side clip worked great for attaching to the shoulder strap of my pack so it was always easy to grab and deploy. I had really good success getting yardages during archery season, which led to me being able to make a successful steep downhill shot on a bull. I continued to use the ranger finder during rifle deer season and while accompanying family members during rifle elk season. The range finder worked great in the rainy conditions we experienced on the rifle hunts. The only weakness I found was getting ranges in foggy conditions. I knew I wouldn't get a good range in the heavy fog we sometimes experienced, but even in some lighter haze I was having a hard time getting a reading. Overall I've been extremely satisfied with the Ranger 1000! November 25, 2014
