Solid Performance I have used the Ranger 1000 for over two years for both archery and rifle. Handheld it will consistently read distances of over 700 yards and often longer, but longer distance performance can drop in certain light conditions non hard surface objects. I am still using the original battery with the unit. I don't think you can beat it without spending a lot more money and it ranges a lot farther than I can ethically shoot. February 16, 2015
Very small ergonomic design This was purchased from my local Vortex dealer. Great little rangefinder. You get alot of bang for the buck; led lit display makes it nice for ranging darker targets, the small size of it makes it fit in your hand easily and also packs very nice, and the texture of the grip insures that it won't slip out of your hand. Overall very pleased with the product and the VIP warranty just takes the icing on the cake. February 12, 2015
great rangefinder I bought one of these 6 months ago and absolutely love it. It takes a few tries to familiarize yourself with the controls to change between options. Other than that it is very user friendly. Only drawback is the case it is complicated to get it in and out of case with one hand probably because of the close tolerances that vortex is known for. Best Range Finder Ever. YO! I have used various models of Nikon, Bushnell and Leica. I used my buddies Ranger 1000 last fall during two of my hunts for over two weeks and it out performed anything I have ever used. It is a perfect size and very fast at calculating a range. It is extremely accurate and I love how it calculates the slope distance. I am saving up my pennies and selling off my old range finders so I can get me a Ranger 1000. No doubt its one of the best out there. February 6, 2015
