Rated 5 out of 5 by All That You Need, Period. After using many different rangefinders, and hours of research, I without hesitation or remorse purchased the Vortex Ranger 1000. Its simplicity of use, its ruggedness, and above all its accuracy leave me completely satisfied with the Ranger 1000. I am a veteran US Army Parachute Infantryman, and a graduate of the US Army Sniper School. I shoot at ranges out past 1000 yards. The Vortex Ranger 1000 has yet to let me down. I have ranged deer at 671 yards, elk at 783, and a black bear at just over 600 yards. This rangefinder is extremely accurate, and ranges well beyond what 99% of hunters should be attempting. The display is easy to read and comprehend, and it is my personal favorite of all the different styles that I have tried. Additionally, the Vortex Ranger 1000 does all this at about half the price of its nearest competitor. Throw in the best warranty that can be imagined, and you have a winner. I have recommended Vortex to every fellow hunter and shooter that I talk to. I honestly believe that they make the absolute best products on the market today. Just buy one, and never look back. Rated 5 out of 5 by Ranger 1000 gets my vote When yards can mean going home empty handed to being the best day of your life. I got the Vortex Ranger rangefinder 1000 sent to me complementary vortex. Just in time for the blacktail rut. While in my treestand nov.12.2013 the 4x4 I have had many dreams about came walking in. The Ranger did not let me down. The Ranger has a very rugged feeling to it, with its rubber coating. Waterproof and good grip, smaller than most other rangefinders,a belt clip that can be moved from side to side,is a real nice feature. It also has the Vortex clarity that Vortex produces on their optics, bar-none the best warrenty and support. Thank you Vortex... February 24, 2014

Rated 5 out of 5 by If you need a rangefinder buy this one! I bought this last summer. I did a lot of research on rangefinders and spent a lot of time looking at them in different stores comparing them side by side. There is a huge variety of rangefinders out there so it can be challenging trying to pick one out. Remember if you want to range game, most will only do that out to about half of their rating (ie a 1000 may only range a deer at 500). I have picked up deer and elk with this over 700yards out, however it usually does a more consistent job at 500-600. I have ranged a building with tin siding at 1127 yards!! I also really like the illuminated reticle. It is very hard to see the black ones in low light or in certain backgrounds. I have used this on bright snowy days and even though it gets harder to see it is still very nice and legible. Also, this one states to be waterproof instead of water resistant that some of the other rangefinders. I have used it in both rain and snow with no problems. HCD is perfect for compensating. I wish ranging only took 2 presses but the 3 presses isn't bad. Overall very happy with it. February 20, 2014
