I do a lot of outdoor activities, primarily backpacking. Recreational outdoor clothing used to be leaps and bounds ahead of hunting clothing in terms of insulation and wear-ability in adverse weather conditions. I have unsuccessfully looked for years for higher loft synthetic fill insulation and waterproof/windproof/breathable materials to reach the hunting clothing market. IT FINALLY HAS!
This jacket has everything covered. It is well insulated without being bulky. The fit is spectacular, even in the sleeves, where bulk is a huge no-no for archers. At 6'2" my primary concern was with the length of this jacket. Other Under Armour products have been too short, but this fits incredibly well. All of the seams are taped, making this fully waterproof. The pockets are large and numerous, without adding unnecessary bulk. The pockets are also well placed, and will suit both bow and gun hunters. The hood is adjustable and lightly insulated, in addition to being waterproof and windproof like the rest of the jacket.
Despite the fact that the jacket is made of fully synthetic materials, it does not have that unnatural glare/sheen that you see from some synthetics. The insulation is superb.
I have only 2 concerns with the jacket. One, it could be quieter. It is not terribly loud or "crunchy" like shell jackets, but it could be quieter. Two, the material does not feel brier or burr proof (not as much an issue for a jacket as with pants). However, the pros far outweigh the cons. You can spend considerably more time in the field in this jacket, regardless of weather conditions. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to spend the money once, and get a multi-season all purpose jacket.
