Uncle Buck's Pond Prowler Boat - Aluminum Seat Base
THIS PAST JAN. I BOUGHT MYSELF A LATE CHRISTMAS PRESENT, A 9ft POND PROWLER LOOKING FOWARD TO THIS SPRING. THE BOAT ITSELF APPEARS TO BE WELL MADE . AS FOR THA SEAT BASES THAT CAME WITH THE BOAT I WAS VERY DISAPOINTED WHEN I OPENED THE BOXES THEY CAME IN I HAD TO PULL PRETTY HAD TO SEPERATE THEM WHEN I DID I RECIVED A SMALL CUT WHEN I TURNED THEM OVER AND LOOKED AT THE UNDERSIDE I FOUND THAT WHEN THE MOUNTING HOLES WERE DRILLED THEY HAD VERY SHARP BURRS THIS IS VERY POOR QUILITY CONTROL IN MY OPINION. I CALLED THE STORE WERE I BOUGHT IT THEY WERE GOING TO CHECK OTHERS THEY HAD TO SEE IF IT WAS JUST A ONE TIME THING .I HOPE SO IF YOU BUY ONE PLEASE BE CAREFUL.

I hardly ever write reviews. I have a Bantam 3 and this seat base needed modification before I could make it work. My boat is a 1995 model. I had to bend the frame together by almost an inch. Also the welds were terrible. There was so much overhang on the joints that I had to grind off the excess so that the aluminum would not dig into the plastic sides of my boat. If I didn't do this, my boat would have been punctured at the rails after a couple of uses. Poor construction and not worth the 33 bucks.

Worked better than expected
I saw these seat frames on a boat while at Bass Pro. I had just purchased a usedSea Eagle Foldcat 375 that came with pedestals for the seats. After sitting on them, I found there was too much play and I did not feel secure. (I'm a big guy, 6'4 and 235 lbs) I ordered the frames and purchased some Bass Pro highback seats to go with them. This configuration is as stable as sitting at my kitchen table. I now have the stability I want and they are extremely comfortable. Could be an option for any boat.

Did Not Fit
Apparently, these aluminum seat bases come in various sizes. I needed the 27 3/4" span and the ones I received from Bass Pro were 25 1/4" that would not fit my "Buster Boat". Be sure to make sure you are ordering the appropriate size. I do not think Bass Pro handles the 27 3/4" width frames. Hopefully I can return them to Bass Pro. I ordered them through the catalog.
