I took these with me to one of my favorite trout streams recently and I'm glad I did. I usually fish with hardware and do pretty good but the fish just didn't seem too interested that day. I caught a few but my catch rate was low. I also tried jigs and other small plastic baits including worms with no change but when I switched to this lure my catch rate went up. One pool had quite a few fish in it that would ignore any hardware I tried and didn't seem interested in other plastics but this lure would get hit hard. I caught and released several fish from that pool using this lure. I also caught several fish from another small pool that would have been impossible to fish with hardware. I caught more fish with this lure than all other lures combined that day and the biggest brown and rainbow of the day were caught using this bait. I'm amazed at the effectiveness of this lure. This lure is as durable as any soft plastic bait I have used too. All of the legs were still attached at the end of the day after many fish caught.
It would be nice if these were offered in bulk bags with no hooks included like other soft plastics though.

If you fish anywhere that has hellgramites you should buy these. They are great for streams because everything in a stream loves em. I've caught bass trout warmouths and even a crawfish on these. the only reason it doesn't get five stars is because it gets hung up easily and slides down the hook shank.

I bought these because I was curious, and when I got home I was skeptical because I've never heard of or seen a helgramite before. but one day I was using my best finesse bait (Squirmin Squirt) and there was an enormous amount of bass and they just left it alone so I rigged the helgramite on an 1/8 oz jighead and BAM! they just attacked it as soon as they saw it. Next time I go to bass pro I'll get a lot more.

Sometimes hard to find but the Helgramite always works for me. You can put on spinners or bounce off the bottom.
