good product while checking trail cameras on our hunting lease in Illinois we normally got 25 to 30 ticks off each of us. We tried ultrathon and now we normally get 4 to 8 ticks off us. good product but smells to much to hunt while wearing it. June 19, 2014
No bugs on me Best stuff we ever used, and it does not smell bad. I can't say anymore. It works and smells decent. :) September 10, 2010

I have used this product quite a bit while trout fishing. It is great against most everything except biting midges. I have not found a bug spray that does work well against gnats (midges). I have had some success, however, applying a little Vicks Vaporub around wrists/hands and neck/ears if you want to try that.

What makes Ultrathon™ Insect Repellent different?

TIME RELEASE PROTECTION
PROVEN FORMULA
SPLASH & SWEAT RESISTANT
MILITARY TESTED

Time Release Protection means DEET is slower to evaporate and provides protection after others have dissipated - up to 12 hours of protection against mosquitoes.

Ultrathon's Time Release Protection gives the user a balanced mix between concentration of DEET and long lasting protection. Our unique technology provides longer lasting protection with less DEET.

I've used this and the Sawyer brand with similar percentage of DEET. Both are equally effective against insects but the Ultrathon doesn't need as frequent applications if you are in the heat and sweating. I agree with one other reviewer. It doesn't keep biting flies off as well as it works on mosquitoes.

I think it works fairly well, maybe just a bit better than others. There are noticeably less mosquitos when I apply the Ultrathon, but not gone. And as for repelling flies, it does nothing for me, but my husband thinks it works great.
