The GX2 rod retains all the strength and reliability that Ugly Stik® is legendary for, while adding new features that improve performance and durability even more! Ugly Tech™ construction combines fiberglass and graphite in exactly the right proportion to render a blank that is sensitive, lighter, and virtually unbreakable. The Ugly Tuff™ guides are crazy slick and practically bulletproof, so that line feeds through and runs back more freely. And, as always, the rod is finished off with Ugly Stik's signature clear fiberglass tip for added power and sensitivity.

  • Ugly Tech Construction
  • Graphite and fiberglass blank
  • Ugly Tuff Guides
  • One piece stainless steel inserts
  • Ugly Stik's classic Clear Tip®

Necessary purchase Bought the GX2 to replace an ugly stick rod that broke. Checked into the warranty information on the one that broke and decided it was easier just to buy a new one than pay to send it back, pay for handling, and pay to have it shipped back again. Besides who keeps receipts for 7 years. I use the rods for salmon fishing in Ca. rivers and they work real good. For the price of the rod the warranty isn't worth fooling with. I have 5 ugly sticks now and am getting ready to buy one more. October 30, 2014
Really good rod This rod is very durable. This has been proven tough to big fish. I like everything about this rod, it is awesome! September 9, 2014
Awesome Rod I bought this rod after christmas and I have used it several times throught the spring and summer. I really like this rod. It feels good in hand and handles fish with no problem. I caught a big largemouth and it went deep and ran deep the rod bent in half and it took the abuse. So if your thinking of buying one I recommend it. July 21, 2014
Great Ugly Stik I bought the medium action 9' footer for some inshore and bay cork pop bobber fishing down in Galveston. It is light weight, has plenty of flex to really load it on a cast and it will let a 1 oz. weight fly a country mile. I know this because before I even got it to the bay, I paired it was a 4000 Shimano Saltwater reel, and went to my local catfish pond. The sweet spot on the pond is about 75 yards out and I easily reached out there, consistently using 8lb. test. This has the legendary Ugly Stik toughness and if you buy it, like you me, you will be on here writing a review giving it a thumbs up. Thank you once again Bass Pro and Shakespeare. July 20, 2014

A:
Yes, you would be able to use for inshore fishing if you take good care of it. To help keep the rod from corrode from the saltwater make sure you wash and rinse your items with fresh water as soon as you can.

Light inshore rods are commonly 6 1/2 - 7 feet long in a medium light or medium power with a fast action tip rated for line sizes of 6-12 lb test.

Heavy inshore rods are generally 7 - 7 1/2 feet in length and medium to medium heavy power, yet still possess a rather fast tip rated for line sizes of 12-20lb test.

Thank you!
