good alternative to wearing sunscreen. Reduces sun exposure reflected off the water. If worn over nose it will cause fogging of sunglasses.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by GulfStreamMonty Great Product/Love it!
Tried all makes of sun masks from Bass Pro//all but UV Buff failed due to sunglass fogging. All other brands need to be re-worked. Tested them all and quality was great on all of the masks. But UV Buff looks the best--works great--and is so simple to drop if you need to to eat or adjust. At first it looks like it is too simple. Use it--and you will love it. You will order more. What is crazy--is it is cooler that not wearing it-dry!--and wet it is like your head is in the freezer. You can wear it all day!!!--Never know it!--Now I know why it is all you see on the coastal fishing shows. This one is amazingly the very best!!!--heads and shoulders over the rest! THANKS BASS PRO--*sorry for all the returns!//M--(Hope the other guys get theirs modified/better colors)--we need some competition-on the prices!

Rated 5 out of 5Â by fishingal Great if you hate sunscreen
Husband and I discovered these a few months ago when he had a very severe sunburn (blistered and peeled twice) on his face and ears during ice fishing season. He'd forgotten to bring sunscreen on an ice fishing trip - full sun, nice weather, fresh fallen snow - disaster. He picked up his UV Buff two days later and has worn it every time we fished since, and it's saved his face and ears.
I just got mine with the Insect Shield and it's so nice to be able to fish all day without having to slather on sunscreen that just wears off after a few hours in the sun, not to mention bug stuff. I do have to put a dab of sunscreen on my nose as keeping my nose covered up makes glasses fog up. I wear a long billed, caped hat, but that buff sure is nice to have on. Especially when the midges start hatching! And very comfortable in hot weather. I have long hair which has always gotten blown around, and the Buff keeps it covered and from getting in my eyes when it's windy.
If you have skin that burns easily - fair skin or medication related, or are already having skin cancers removed, this is a great way to still get out there and enjoy - fishing, golf, hiking, whatever. It's hard to just rely on a wide-brimmed hat. I would recommend these to anybody who wants better sun protection - just wish I'd had one ten years ago!

Is it really comfortable to wear or does it fit so tight that it is uncomfortable or takes some real getting used to?
Answers
A:Â
The stretch is pretty good, it's snug, but not suffocatingA:Â
easy to wear, soft fabric and I forget it's on most of the time. I was skeptical at first, now I'm a big fan.A:Â
Takes a little while to get used to. Feels hot at first but does the job.A:Â
its comfortable and it breaths wellA:Â
I didn't find it at all uncomfortable. I have a 17" neck, but I suppose that a really big guy with a thick neck and large lower face may find it a little tight. For my fit, if it were larger, it wouldn't stay in place as well, though I think it would do OK for a much smaller person, too.A:Â
It is so comfortable you will forget you have it on.A:Â
I have a big head and was very comfortable-you forget its there.A:Â
Very comfortable. Since it can be worn so many ways it is easy to find a "style" that works for you. Does not feel confining.A:Â
Fits great, not to tight, I wear glasses or sunglassesA:Â
fit very comfortable. I wore it for 9hours straight. There was the intial time getting use to it but that quickly went by fast. I think next time I will shave it does make it a little easier to move around. If it can prevent skin cancer in the face area than great purchase.A:Â
No, it is comfortable and just feels natural the moment you put it on.Answers
A:Â
I did not get hot. The weather was in the mid to upper 70's and this product seems to wick moisure awayA:Â
Not really. On days where there is NO wind it will become a little uncomfortable. Works best when there is a breeze. If there is a breeze I feel more cooler with it on then with it off.A:Â
No its not bad I wore it in 95 degree heat and it didn't make me feel hotA:Â
I've used it on miserably hot days and did not feel any hotter as a result of wearing it. In fact, drenching it in cold water occasionally seemed to help.A:Â
Much cooler than the sun on your skin.A:Â
Not at all. Breezes blow through easily.A:Â
No you do not get hot while wearing it even in the middle of summer.A:Â
a little bit but its worth it to keep the bugs off, I love mineA:Â
I sunburn very easy, and I was not hot in three days of wearing this for 7 hours per day. I also wore a wide brim hat. Temp was in the mid 60's with winds up to 12 mph.A:Â
No, it is very thin and wicks moisture very well and cools you with the moisture it wicks.Answers

I don't really remember the tag but I think it said 50+ but I would not count on it being better than 30. I where them fishing religiously and they work.A:Â
I have fished all day in the bright sun shine and did not get my lips, ears, neck, etc burnt by the sun or wind!!I am very fair skinned and have been to doc to have hundreds of pre cancer places frozen off of me!
Where this covered me never even turned color(red) at all and was not sore! So, I do not know the UV rating but it has to be very high in the numbers!!
A:Â
95% UV rays protection rating.A:Â
Not sure what the rating is but I have worn mine for up to 8 hours without sunscreen and not got burned.Top 250 Contributor
A:Â
I believe it is 40-50A:Â
UV Rating is 95.A:Â
I'm not sure, but my dermatologist recommended it to my because I have already had skin cancer and can't afford to get it again. I have also never been burned when wearing it.Q:Â

does this actually keep your skin from being in contact with the sun, the same as a sunscreen would?
Answers
A:Â
I can tell you I wore it in the South TX sun for 6 hours midday on a sunny day, I saw more sun on my nose than anything I had covered with the Buff. It was 90 to 95 degrees and the Buff did better than the Banana Boat 50spf I had on my nose and I wore a ball cap.A:Â
Yes it kept my face from being burned by the sun on a recent trip to Texas fishingA:Â
It depends on how you wear it. I would say it did for me because I was able to cover the entire area I was trying to protectA:Â
I think so I had it on during a really hot and sunny day and I didn't get any sun burnA:Â
I asked my wife if I was red (sunburned) and she said I looked normalA:Â
I believe that it does better than suntan lotion. That is you have to reapply the lotion a number of time while fishing. Also, the amount of sun you get reflecting off the water along with wind burn. When I took it off to get the trailer I looked in the mirror and I it looked like I wasn't fishing a tournament for 9 hoursA:Â
Actually, it's better. It makes a solid barrier, unlike sunscreen. Sunscreeen actually wears off and comes off when it gets wet, but when this gets wet it just sort of cools you. In my opinion it's better than sunscreen. You don't have all that grease on your hands to get on your baits and scare fish.A:Â
I do not feel the sun anywhere this buff is put.A:Â
Yes.A:Â
Kept my ears and neck from getting burned on a day when my hands turned beet red.1 of 1
