"I have used both the cottonseed oil & peanut oil. MY pick is the cottonseed oil! I think it actually does a better job. A local judge lost his wife a while back to deep fried turkey fixed in the PEANUT OIL due to the nut allergy. I'll NEVER use the PEANUT OIL AGAIN!!"

"I purchased cottonseed oil last fall from BPS because I have a Grandson who is allergic to peanut products. I had used peanut oil for many years to fry my turkeys but my grandson couldn't even come in my house while a had a turkey cooked in peanut oil for fear of another trip to the emergency room. He was able to enjoy fried turkey for the first time. I will be going to my local BPS to purchase some oil this week."

When comparing Cottonseed Oil to Peanut Oil you have to understand that both oils are a high quality oil. Both oils have very good traits and are very good for high temperature cooking. They both have relatively high smoke points and flashpoints. However, cottonseed is slightly higher for both points. One important difference in the two oils is the allergens. Cottonseed oil is non-allergenic. Cottonseed oil offers a neutral flavor to enhance the foods being cooked. This allows the true flavor of the food and marinade to be tasted. Cottonseed oil will not carry the flavor of the foods cooked. This allows you to cook several different foods and not have everything tasting like the first thing you cooked.
