Like painting with spackle First off, it is what it is, it's a roll-on, non-skid, flooring material. It definitely is that and it does exactly what it says. I bought this to replace my carpet in my old fish & ski fiberglass boat. I sanded and primed with the recommended epoxy (which is GREAT) and then taped off where i didn't want it. There is absolutely no way to do any detailing with this stuff. I had to take a foam brush and literally pat it around the edges the roller couldn't get to, it's not pretty, but it's done now. My problem came when trying to get it down evenly, it's just about impossible. I mixed it with a drill for at least 10 minutes before deciding it had to be good enough. Then it plopped out of the can like old oatmeal. Then it was impossible to get an even amount in the roller and even HARDER trying to roll it down evenly. It would build up in spots that you can not roll flat, I had to actually smash it down by hand, then try to roll over what was left for texture. I will say by the second coat, it was slightly better coverage. So, if you're using this product on a flat pontoon or if you just don't care how it looks when done, this is great. I was simply hoping for a slightly cleaner finished look. Also, it cures very hard and dry feeling. I was sort of expecting rubbery, tacky finish, but it's more like walking on a textured ceiling. Seems tough enough so far. May 2, 2011
Good Deck coating I bought this to go on the decks of my 19ft aluminum center console...used their primer and this coating..Take my advice and buy one of the paint stirring appliances for your electric drill as you need to really stir it good before you start and stir several times while you are putting it down...bought two gallons and found that I needed almost all of it to do my boat...looks good, but the colors don't match the examples on the web site...Light grey turned out to be darker than I really wanted, but it looks much better than scraped and scratched jon-boat olive green. So Far So Good Coating applied alot easier than one would think as long as you use the suggested applicator. Seems tough but time will tell. Installed on flooring of my 16' Spectrum instead of carpet and hoping for the best!! April 11, 2011
slipped right on the deck Make sure you do a good job stirring it all of it. The agragret settles to the bottom. Goes on easy but buy the roller that is made for the product. February 17, 2011

It is rough by design, but safe for bare feet, depending on the color ! Choose a light color to reflect the heat if bare feet are standard.

I did the best I could to remove all loose, and globbed up spots using a scraper & wire wheel.
Then covered right over it. Can't tell the old glue was even there !
Tuff Coat hides it all.

This stuff should stick to anything. If the glue is stuck well, just cover over it.

Yes, the manufacturer says you can add color paint, however, this is a water base so you must use a water base color paint.

Never tried it, but the texture is rough enough to stand a top coat.... I guess it would depend on the paint.
A top coat would diminish the texture some though.

We do a lot of fishing and are considering this instead of new carpet. How well does it clean up after a day of blood and guts from fish and bait? Also, it says it covers 50 sq. ft. per gallon, but I read that two coats were required - does that mean it would take 8 gallons to cover appx. 200 sq. ft of deck?

It took two gallons to do my 19ft boat (about 90 sq ft) and that was two coats...I think that the 50 sq ft is with the two coat recommendation. I have found that it cleans up very well after a full day fishing...I just pull through the car wash and spray it down...I did have to use a brush when I accidently let some fish blood bake all day, but it didn't stain.

I don't recall the coverage - you will definitely need two coats though. Call the company in Colorado - they can give you some guidance as to actual coverage. Do an internet search to find them. They are very helpful!!
