Tru-Blood Knot Tyer - Not much good to say The "Clinch Tool Knot Tyer," made by the same company, is a helpful tool for tying knots in less-than optimal conditions. The "Tru-Blood Knot Tyer", however, manages to take a somewhat tedious knot, the blood knot, and make it difficult. I was hoping for a tool that would be helpful in tying blood knots (tippet to leader) on the stream, when light was low and fingers were thick. This tool is completely inappropriate for that use, and difficult to use even at a well lit tying bench. If you can manipulate this tool and manipulate the line on it according to instructions, you aren't having trouble tying blood knots anyway. Others may have better luck than I did, but while the tool can eventually generate a blood knot, the effort and dexterity is greater than simply tying it by hand. Your mileage may vary, but I was unimpressed. September 9, 2006
Not bad I have read alot of bad reviews about this product and I think people think this thing is made for things it is not. Would I use it on the river up to my waist, no way, a double overhand is faster and alot easier. Do I use this thing tying my own leaders before I go out, you bet!! It ties the best tru blood knots I have ever seen and is not that hard to figure out. The directions are pretty basic so use your head and you will figure this thing out in no time. A tru blood knot is the hardest of all fishing knots ( try it with a nail) . It will not tie the knot for you, and it will take some practice but over all it is a very useful too. October 21, 2011
Time Saver One of the hardest flyfishing knots made easy.... As long as you follow the directions. If you are adequate tying a blood knot on your own, I don't recommend this tool, as it wastes several inches of line. However, if you can follow simple directions, but have large fingers and find it difficult to tie a blood knot, this is the tool for you. A perfect blood knot in about 30 seconds EVERY time. bad I know how to tie a blood knot but I was looking for an easy way to tie it. It is a poor design for its purpose. I made one that works much better and much cheaper. I am returning it to bass pro. September 29, 2012
