pretty solid works correctly and seems durable. i dont understand what makes it 60$ though. October 5, 2011
Base is 80% plastic I have another hitch lock with the same type key. One day I used the wrong key to try to unlock this trailer lock. The key turned a little and got stuck. I spent another hour trying to get the key out of the lock to no avail and looked at the prospect of either not being able to go boating or breaking the lock off the trailer coupler. I used a sawsall with a new blade, it sliced through the base of this lock in 40 seconds flat. August 5, 2011
Solid lock but mine is starting to rust. I've had this lock for about six months and it does a great job. The sliding cover over the keyhole is a nice touch. My only complaint is the rust that is developing on the shackle after only a few months. I rinse the lock down every time it comes near saltwater. I've started spraying it down with CorrosionX, between uses but then I end up with oily dirty hands. Not good for my truck's interior. August 27, 2008
Atwood Surge Brake Hitch - No This is a very nice lock and I would recommend it for anyone EXCEPT if you have an Atwood Style Surge Break Hitch. After you put the lock on, all a thief has to do is raise the release lever and the ball latch releases and the lock just falls off. July 5, 2008
