i havent tried these for smallmouth on the james river yet(where i fish 4-5 times a week) but i fish alot on this public pond in a park that gets alot of pressure and have some big fish in it because it keeps me on my toes and at the top of my game, i believe if you successfully fish an extremely pressured body of water with good results then it gives you an edge over all, well some days i get skunked some days i do pretty good(lots of pads and slop and weeks mainly restrict you to frogs/soft plastics, even top water brings in junk) well i tried the black trigger x worm in the weed shallows and 1st cast i tucked my rod into my armpit and just let it sink while i dug into my pocket only to have the rod about ripped out of my arm, caught 2 2-2 1/2lb bass within 5min and both of them hit like 5lbers, i have to say between these worms, and craws trigger x has a GREAT thing going on, as i said in my flappin bug review 1st 4 times with trigger x during a cold front when smallmouth and largemouth all but came to a stop trigger x was the ONLY thing that pruduced for me. I love these baits so much i went out and stocked up on 5+ packs of things in my favorite colors. give them a shot you wont regret it, pretty durable too. Also the walleye series has REALLY worked wonders for me as well

I believe Rapala has something great going with their Trigger X baits. If you want a great "go to" worm, this one may be it. Absolutely great action wether you use it weightless, Texas, or Carolina rigged. I have even had success with it on a drop shot rig. It appears as though bass can't resist all that tail action, and once you get them close, the Pheromones take over. Just fish it slow, work that tail , and make sure you let that big bass have it for a little bit, they love chewing a little before taking off with it.

I usually twitch it couple times and let it sink weightless or jig it in one spot I went to a lake caught 9 pickerel off of it and some nice bass. It looks big but it works very well especially black
