Should have included better instructions on how to load, had to search youtube to see how was done properly. Other than that I really like it

Worst thing about this kit is the capper tool to place the percussion caps on the nipples drops the caps and pops a second one out unless you hold it upright. But the gun was above my expectations and fires homemade powder exceptionally well even. Very accurate gun and very fun to use.

This is an incredible little weapon. As long as you use the correct .454" diameter ammunition and not the .451" this gun is exceptionally accurate. Also make sure that you measure your powder consistently, though that holds true for every muzzleloading firearm. That aside, this is a very well built and very accurate weapon. I can shoot a 5" circle with all rounds at 20 yards. It is very hard to be disappointed with this weapon. The kit that comes with it has everything that you need to get started too. The direction book is very clear on how to load and operate the weapon making it a very safe gun to use. I would trust my life to this weapon mechanically, it never fails to work. Out of over 100 rounds I've only had 1 misfire and that was due to the primer being bad. Overall, I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to get into black powder shooting and to anyone who likes history.

everything works on it and feels good in my hand but the brass fram is really stained... kit not bad but they shoulda let you pick all steel or brass...

I believe 30 grains is the maximum from what little reading on the subject I can find. I have fired the Pyrodex 30 grain pellets made specifically for black powder pistols to good effect. I believe the recommended load is 20 gr, but no higher than 30. I also understand the steel framed pistols hold up to the higher loads better than the brass framed ones.Answers

The weapon loaded the way that I load it, which is roughly 18gr of true black powder. I'm getting similar ballistics to a .357 magnum. I would estimate that it might be able to knock down a deer if you hit it in just the right spot. But, I personally don't recommend the use of this weapon to hunt deer.A:

Yes! It will definately kill deer. Keep in mind your range will be limited by the accuracy of the gun. My experience limits me to 35 yards, (basically bow range). The group size of the weapon starts to get too large beyond 40+ yards.

The specifications (specs) that came with the pistol will list the minimum load & the maximum load. PAY ATTENTION to these numbers or you might want to kiss your hand goodby!! If you ignore the minimum load the ball will get stuck in the barrell and if you fire another round in an attempt to 'clear' the obstruction, kiss your hand goodby. Hope this helpsA:

30 grains (MAX) 3f black powder for a .451 daimeter round lead ball. Trick - load poweder, then use a little corn meal on top so that the lead ball is not seated too deeply into the cyclinder. This prevent the ball from having to jump accross to the forcing cone. It improves accuracy!A:
