Bought unit thinking it was a boat anchor kit. But after I got it out of the box found out it only was a winch. you still have to tie off the boat to a cleat as the plastic gears will break if you dont. It does not say this on the box ,but shows a large pontoon being heald straight from the untt. Better off not to buy it . Unless all you want is an elevatoir.

Install was very easy. Did it at the lake with a cordless drill and a couple flat wrenches.
Works good so far.

"This winch came apart after just 2 trips out. First, retainer clip pin came off end of worm gear and allowed it to slip out of position. Then it would not function up or down.

This winch came apart after just 2 trips out. First, retainer clip pin came off end of worm gear and allowed it to slip out of position. Then it would not function up or down. Tried to remove cover to examine inside workings, the screws holding the cover on were loc-tighted on so bad, I had to use impack wrench, but could only to get 1 of them off without ruing screw. Had to grind the other 3 off to access the inside. Found both nuts holding top support bar had also rattled loose, then fell off as well. Went back to my hand operated anchor system.
