I've been using Remington 700 BDLs for the past 35 years. Now that my nephew has started hunting, I decided to look into a new gun. I've read reviews of the Tikka T3 Lite, but I had to see it to believe it. The gun is very light yet handles very well. Out of the box, the bolt action is smoother than my old Remingtons. The accuracy is amazing! After a quick sighting in, all three holes are touching at 100 yards. The gun shoots like this every time I take it to the range. I like it so much I purchased one for my nephew after he took his first deer using mine.

I purchased the Tikka T3 Lite in .308 Winchester. The bolt is, by far, the smoothest I have ever seen. Trigger setting from the factory was perfect for me and has absolutely no creep. I was a bit concerned about the plastic magazine after other reviews I had read, but I have no doubts about it after firing the gun. No problems whatsoever feeding shells from the magazine to the chamber. I like the inline stack feature of the magazine, even though it cuts the magazine capacity from 4 or 5 down to 3. Trust me, once you get this gun sighted in, you won't need the extra shells in the magazine!
Took it to the range to get ready for deer hunting and was extremely pleased with the results. I used Remington, Winchester, Hornady, and Fusion ammo, all 150 gr., and results were good with all brands. I have never owned a rifle that wasn't picky about the type of ammo I used with it, but I feel confident I can take either of these brands and have a successful hunt.
I only have one complaint about the gun, and it is one that is easily overcome. The stock recoil pad is not very good. It is a thin layer of rubber over a hard plastic frame, and therefore does not offer much protection. I replaced it with a Limbsaver pad and that really makes it a pleasure to shoot!
Bottom line is this: If you are looking for a new rifle for the range or for the field, take a look at the Tikka T3 Lite. I don't think you will be disapointed!

I was deciding upon this or the Remington 700 and after holding the two, testing the trigger pull, and the bolt action, I went with this. I'll eventually add the Remington 700 but the Tikka is perfect for a beginner like me. This comes out wonderful right out of the box and I can't wait till my scope arrives (I chose the Leupold VX-1 4-12x40). I'm 5'2 and weigh under 100lbs and I can handle the .270 just fine.
