If you haven't used these floats for bluegill, crappie or perch you don't know what you have been missing! These are the most sensitive float you can buy and handle like a dream. I wouldn't use them on high wind days, because they are so light. All you other fisherman that use golf ball sized floats.. what are you thinking?

It is great for sensitivity to the bite. Advantages that others have not mentioned include use as a bite indicator when icefishing. Many baits or small jigs can be suspended by the Thill float. Leave 12-18 " of slack line. The fish take the bait, feel practically no resistance, and swim off. Allow the fish to move a few inches, then strike. It works great on sensitive- to-resistance trout.
Another very effective use is to rig a jig that the float cannot quite suspend. Set the depth to where you think the fish are, and slowly, slowly reel in the jig, stopping occasionally. The jig will drop at a very, very slow rate, triggering more strikes than the regular rate of fall. The past two weeks, this technique has been yielding 30 to 80 crappie and 60 to 140 bluegills per day, while the fishermen around me have mostly been catching 0 to 10 fish, using the same jigs. Many fishermen have asked me where to find this float. Some have offered much more than the price if I will sell them a float. The response has always been, "Go to Bass Pro".

I've been using the Mini - Shy Bite floats for about 15 years. I first started using them not because of the sensitivity but for the lack of wind resistance when casting. In South Florida the wind always blows on the lake and casting a cricket can be tough. These floats not only do not spook shy biting bluegills but allow you to cast from a distance. Bass Pro Shops is the only store I've found them.
