I could not bow hunt in Alabama or Goergia without one.

I love my thermacell for the early bow season. I hunt right next to a pond on one stand and a creek on the other and have yet to be bitten while on these stands with a Thermacell. I forgot it the other day and the results were a lot different with the weather being the same.

I bought a Therma Cell a while back when they first came out, and i still continue to use it as my #1 produst for repelling mosquitos. It doesnt have a scent that can spook deer. It works perfect and repels the thickest swarms, and i hunt the swamps of Northeast Florida.

I would not go without it, in Alabama the mosquitoes are bad during bow season around the creeks and swamps. I tried alot of sprays, but this is so easy and if you use the earth scent you provide cover. And most importantly it works very well.

Do not use indoors Especially if you have small pets ie: bird, hamsters, etc. remember it is an insecticide.A:Â

In my experience, no. Either the breeze is strong enough that it carries the repellent away before it can repel mosquitos....or when it is still, the mosquitos still seemed to swarm around us on the water.I have used this product in the woods in treestands with EXCELLENT results however

The only time it wouldn't be effective is when you are moving, because it takes a few minutes before it fills the air with the repellent. So for skiing I wouldn't use it, but for fishing it would work great.Q:Â

Does this in any way alert deer due to odor? Being a bowhunter, I am insanely meticulous about scent protection.

I am not sure. I did see three does and they were quite skittish so they could have possibly picked up the scent. If I would have been hunting (instead of using a video camera) I could have shot all three assuming they would have stayed at the location after the first shot.A:Â
Use the earth scent tabs and you won't have that concern . It acts as an outdoor incense if you will that can help cover your personal scent...........A:Â
Was using this with Earth Scent pad and had 4 deer come with in 40 yards of my deer stand. One is in the freezer. Enough said.A:Â
i have used one for the past 2 years bowhunting and killed deer both seasons - our entire team uses them and we have never seen a deer alert to it

there is an earth scent availiable, i used it all last season and never had a problem. i have not tried the normal repellent while out hunting. the earth scent is not available on the bass pro website either, you need to go the store to get this one.

no deer cant smell it at all. i have seen a fox ,bobcat,coon,and deer bowhunting with the therma cell on,and within 20 yardsQ:Â

When you purchase the therma cell does it come with a butaine tank and the scent waiffers or do you have to buy them seperate?

It comes with one butane tank and three scent mats. The mats last about 4 hours (they turn from blue to white when their used up) each. I think the butane tank lasts about 12 hours.A:Â

I would recommend at least 16 packs of pads/butane. I would probably get more because the mosquitos may be worse in Haiti.A:Â
well you are probably already gone but what it says is true it will last 12 hrs with one butane and 3 pads . that is what come in a refill kit .A:Â
Each Pad lasts about 4 hours and the butane lasts about 12 hours. Amazingly enough, they give you 3 pads for every butane cannister in the refills.A:Â
The full will last about 8-10 hours. The scent waffers last about the same.Q:Â

I find if you have the holster to make it hands free, it works as great on the move as it does if your sitting in a tree stand. Also, they say it works best if it is horizantal, NOT TRUE, any way you use it it will work as long as the butane is still going and the pad is still blue.

It will not work well. Think about it, it is emmitting a smoke/ scent to protect you, if you move, you are moving away from the scent. That is why this thing has 3 bad reviews, those people were moving. this product also does not work as well in windy conditions. It is best in a ground blind where you contain the scent better. if you are scouting just use regular repellants.A:Â
If you have the carrying case it will work wherever you go. I carry mine through the woods at 3D tournaments (always moving locations) and it's worked for me so far.A:Â
I wouldn't think so and they don't recommend it either. It taks up to 30 minutes to permeate the area and control the mosquitos. And it get hot, so carrying it on your person would be very difficult.

I doubt it, because it emits a gas, and you would be constantly walking away from it. It would be fine when you were standing still, but for walking it probably wouldn't work.Details:Â

I don't know for sure but I hunted middle georgia for 10 years , from Augusta to macon , and I garantee they will keep the GNATS out of your eyes !! .......

We duck hunt down here in south Louisiana and the gnats are overwhelming. Will this thing be effective?Answers

Its not very effective against gnats, at least in my experience. In one place where i shoot, when you park you end up kicking up alot of gnats that swarm you and even after turning this on, they are still there. The number decreases but not enough to say it works well.A:Â

from what ican tell I see it works on deer flies. When you are walking they do buzz you but when you stop the therma cell performs
