Bought this product for early season deer hunting in Oklahoma, because mesquiteos were eating me up, turned it on and didnt even see a mesquiteo after that.

I recently purchased the new ThemalCell Realtree Mosquito appliance from Bass Pros Shops on June 16, 2011 for my up coming Archery Elk hunt in western Washington, knowing there would be mosquito’s in the area.
Well this new appliance was defective, and would not always light. There were times when I had to click the unit up to 100 times or more before it would ignite if it ignited at all. I could see the igniter making a spark but it appears that the lighting system would just puff itself out.
Needless to say it was very frustrating trying to light the appliance. It got to the point that I was trying to light the appliance first thing in the morning and when I got it lit I would have to place it in my vehicle or ATV to carry it to the hunting area.
I had given my son the olive drab thermal cell, that I had used in the past when I bought the new Realtree thermacell, and of course his appliance would light within (5) clicks.
I am quite disappointed in the performance of this new thermacell appliance during my recent hunting trip, although I believe this is just a case of a bad part. I am returning the defective appliance to the Schawbel Corp. the MFG for Thermal Cel for a replacement. Hopefully the replacement will work as well as my olive drab had in the past.
DONT SEND YOU DEFECTIVE ITEMS BACK TO THE SCHAWBELCORP. THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS REALLY BAD!I PACKAGED IT UP IN BOX SO IT WOULD'NT GET DAMAGED AFTER TALKING TO THEM ON THE PHONE.( NOT VERY FRIENDLY) ALTHOUGH THEY SEND A NEW ONE IN AN ENVELOP WITH MY LETTER THEIR WAS NO RESPONSE FROM THE COMPANY AND WAS NOT EVEN IN A NEW PACKAGE JUST THE THERMAL CEL, THIS ONE DOES WORK CORRECTLY!
I WOULD RECOMMEND YOU DEAL DIRECTLY WITH BASS PRO SHOPS. IF YOU HAVE ANY ISSUES.

Just received my products from Bass Pro this week and could not wait to try it out. The Realtree appliance looks good. I bought the holster and am glad I did, highly recommend for carrying extra patches and butane. Decided to get refills while at it as I knew this product was going to get plenty of use.
My wife and I went to the mountains of PA this weekend, June may not be the worst month for skeeters and all but it was a good "road test" of this product. We sat out on the deck Friday without bugs. Wife used next day while she was doing some gardening. I took it to a favorite little pond close by. I hooked the Thermacell on my belt which is another reason I'm glad I added the holster to my purchase. Within about 3 minutes after firing this up, the skeeters and gnats were simply not a problem. I fished almost 3 hours without one bug bite. Obviously when I moved the effect was a bit less but in no time I could see those buggers come towards me and just stop! It was amazing and this thing simply flat out works. I'm done with sprays and wipes since thinking about the cost per hour of effectiveness, this is really a good value.

You can use it for up to 6 or more hours maybe longer never really time one in the field, I normally light it just before going into the woods.

Butane usually lasts six to seven hours. Pads last about two hours.1 of 1
