I was concerned about the chair because I am a bigger guy and also because I do not have the regular square thermarest. After a weekend deep in the woods, however, I was very happy with the performance. I am 6'2" 250 lbs and I was happy with the strength of the chair for minimal use (meals, limited sitting for relaxation, etc). My only complaint is that it does not lay down at full mat length for night time. I had to pull the Thermarest completely out to sleep on and re-fold it for seat use.

I found this to be a great idea to take on backpacking trips. Instead of bringing a chair, you can use your ThermaRest or other sleeping pad as a 2 in 1, a chair and a sleeping pad. This weighs next to nothing and is a smart thing to bring if you want to pack light but still be comfortable.

The trail model will fit. Any pad will go into the chair as long as the width of the pad is 20 inches. We use these chairs with the ultralite series that are orange in color. You will love this chair, I promise.1 of 1
