  • A versatile and highly effective soft plastic bait
  • Flat belly and upturned paddle tail
  • Swims straight and true
The Hackberry Hustler was designed by Captain Buzz Stansel at the Hackberry Rod & Gun Club. A versatile and highly effective soft plastic bait, it features a flat belly and an upturned paddle tail that makes it swim straight and true-even when not perfectly rigged on a jighead. Keep some close at hand.

Great Product This is a great product. I have caught many fish in many different conditions. I would recommend it to anyone. October 26, 2011
A very versatile bait The hackberry hustler is a great bait that takes the best aspects of a paddle tail and combines it with best aspects of a rat tail plastic. Great for reds, trout, flounder, and whatever else is hanging around. Awesome bait! October 26, 2011
If I could only have a one bait.... I fished with these in Hackberry a few years back and I am so glad they are publicly available now. The three colors that do it all are Morning Glory, East Beast, and Who Dat. If forced to only one color it would be East Beast for all water colors. I prefer using short shank jigheads from 1/16 to 1/4 ounce depending on water depth and desired retrieve. You can work this bait like a sand eel with added action from the paddle tail on the bottom, or hop it off the bottom and let the tail really vibrate on the fall. Also, lighter jigheads allow you to twitch through the water column like a traditional paddle tail or rat tail lure. Give them a try, October 26, 2011
TTF These are great soft plastics for Specks and Reds. I rig them on a screw lock Jig head and it works great. October 26, 2011
