The travel rod does not have a split butt and the guides are anodized aluminum not SIC. I do not think aluminum guides will last long with super braid . Besides, this rod is advertised as 28" broken down and is really 30". Since I purchased it to take on a plane, this is important to me.

Nothing wrong with the performance of this rod, but the color of the painted sections is actually red and blue, not matching this photo at all. Some may think that irrelavant, but I try to match my rods and reels visually so I returned the rod.

rod was purchased for me as a gift. great quality with a lot of backbone for horsing out fish. I have it paired with an okuma epixor 3000 baitfeeder spooled with 30lb pp on the 7ft mh travel rod(spinning). initially intended to use it for carp and channel cats in the delaware river, but it is now also one of my goto rods for bass and snakeheads. i fish a lot of topwater frogs in heavy milfoil and it has more than enough power to pull the big ones out. having the okuma on there is a nice pair, it allows me to use it for my main types of fishing, but also to throw some bait out for carp and cats an sit back and relax. tfo has always made nice fly stuff so i figured they couldn't go wrong teaming up with gary loomis for some spinning gear. i have also used it for tog at the shore with great results.

Rated 3 out of 5 by CWJ29 Nice but Very Top Heavy
I purchased the TRS704-3 medium action to use with an Abu Garcia Soron STX20 reel. The result was a VERY top heavy combo. That is, when I held the rod/reel in my hand, it immediately tipped forward so it was not at all balanced. For me, my wrist gets fatigued when fishing all day so a balanced package is essential. The rod will be returned.
With all that said, the rod itself seems to be very well made and it looks beautiful. Of course, fish don't care how your rod looks so that's not really a factor for me. Each piece of the rod is about 29.25" long and they fit together and took apart easily. It looks to be a rod that would hold up well.
