This rod is extremely light. It's even lighter than the TiCr-X, and it casts a mile with ease. The low weight of the rod allows me to put more power into my false casts because I don't have to use all of my energy holding the weight. This is a great rod at a great price.

I was in the market for a new 5wt rod. I attended an ISE Show near my home and test casted several rods from one of the exhibitor booths there. I was blown away how well this BVK casted. It's smooth, light, responsive, and has a great feel, and punched through the wind that was blowing outside. TFO really has a winner on their hands here. For a rod thats half the price of others, it is equal to or beats them hands down. One of the best purchases for a new rod I've ever made.

I just bought a BVK without the recoil guides as that is all they carried in the store. The newer rods have the recoil guides, it appears and for whatever reason the stores don't carry them. The regular guides work fine though. Every other rod in the store also had regular guides.
No. I don't think any of the TFO rods come with cases. It comes with a sleeve, and I usually buy a Bass pro White River hard case with a reel pocket. They are pretty inexpensive and more durable than most factory rod cases.
Yes, but remember, these rods are quite fast action. I have used a 5 weight 10' and it worked well. There are other rods that would do this better, but you can' t beat the quality you get for the price with the BVK. The 4 weight will give you a little more flex so you can bend with the fish a little better.
