Funny thing to say about a paddle is "Well thought out" but that's the only way I can describe it.
It's the details like the threaded head on the hook end to add a brush for cleaning the deck, or the rubber bumper on the bottom of the paddle blade for pushing off something without damaging it.
In it's compact form it's about 2 1/2 to 3 feet long, making it at least 50% longer than the most compact telescoping paddle that BPS has to offer. So if compacted size is your primary concern, this is not your paddle. However, I would still concider it decently compact and being that when fully extened it is about 5 1/2 feet I believe the compromise is worth it.
Another item of note that is fairly intangible, is that it feels sturdy in my hands. I do not get the feeling that if I had to paddle my way across the lake, pull anyone overboard up to the boat, or push off a dock in the wind that I would have any troubles.

The paddle worked for what I wanted, to reach around the pilons on bridges to tie up my poonton boat. The only problem is you need to be careful which way you turn it sometimes it is hard to retract for storage. seem to be built very well. good for a small storage area.
