  • Rack and pinion feel with the ease of 4 turns, lock-to-lock
  • Single system works on 4-cylinder motors only
These rack steering systems from Seastar Solutions combine the precision feel of Rack & Pinion with the ease of 4 turns, lock-to-lock. These systems bolt up to older Teleflex "The Rack" rack-and-pinion dashboard cutouts. Replacing single system with dual requires connection kit from your engine manufacturer. Wheel not included.
Single system will work on 4-cylinder motors only. Will not work on a V-6.
Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 3 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good product Works great and has the needed hardware. Save yourself a trip to the store. Even though it may show in stock at the store it is not. June 4, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by not good the steering rotary helm gear was too tight to use so i used the ten year old one i bought from them previously.the aluminum housing was too small for the shaft which did not allow the wheel to turn freely what so ever.bass pro was great it shipped fast but the box had the motor shafts sticking out four inches but were not damaged so i used them but not the gear drive its in trash. Rated 5 out of 5 by Great part Basspro shipped it out quickly! The steering system was exactly what I needed and works great! I recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their old style steering system with the NFB system from Teleflex! February 22, 2011

Looking to change from clothesline cable system. Cable length would be 14' but the motor 1974 115 Johnson doesn't have the tube on the motor. Need tilt and trim as well.I know that I might have to add a new steering wheel as well. What do I did to purchase for this refit.
Thanks for your help

A:
If that is the largest engine that boat can take and it is doing under 50MPH you could use the SS151xx rack kit. You would then need the transom mount kit.**Note** salt water only use Stainless Steel version

Tilt and trim are with the throttle and shift controls not the steering.

My outboard "flops 90 degrees" when I let go of steering wheel at trolling speed. Will this steering system fix that problem? Are installation instructions included with this kit? Can I install it without removing my my 90HP Mercury outboard or is a boat dealer/marina required to install it??

Can you let go of the steering wheel with the NFB and it maintain course yes
**Should you NO**
Yes all of their products are shipped with instruction sheets.
It will depend on the boat about the engine removal or not all boats are different and some just do not have the splash well space where others do.
Many, Many boat owners install their own cable steering systems. Thanks
