As far as I'm concerned a zillion on most any rod is a good combo!

8.8 lbs is the book answer, although it seems closer to about 12-14 to me.

Zillion in the 7:1 gear ratio. The Ardent is under-performing. The Quantum won't last. The Zillion will be solid a decade from now.

I use the zillion for all my jig and spinnerbait rods from 1/4 to 1/2oz and they perform very well! Less than 3/16oz and you might want to get a pixy or somthing of that nature for a baitcaster.

Zillion. No Question. It is the greatest reel made, and I have owned them all. I use the 7:1:1 with my spinner baits, paired with a G. Loomis Spinnerbait Rod. For that matter, the Zillion will be the best reel you ever hold i your hand for any baitcast application. Truly. Buy with ZERO reservations.

A:
The zillion is hands smoother, and now with the zillion in the 100PA with a 4.9:1 that's the way to go. Fished Abu Garcia for a long time and the Zillion series beats the Revo's into the ground, switched to all Daiwa, more money but much better quality reels.

See my review. This reel is WAY better than the Revo STX IMHO. Great for crankbaits!

For cranking, go with the Zillion Crazy Cranker. The 4.9:1 gear ratio is great for deep divers.

This reel is more dependable for us than the Abu G- in smoothness they are equal but in the long haul the Zillion has held up better- as far as comparing it to the Shimano listed in the above comment there is no comparision of these two to it. Shimaos last but because of less bearings they are not as smooth unless you buy the very top of the line- the cheaper shimanios need more weight to make them cast smooth

A:
Both are great reels, and you probably wouldn’t notice much difference between the two. Both reels offer excellent spool rotation and are very smooth. If you’re looking for a crankbait only reel then I would suggest going with a Shimano Curado reel or one that doesn’t have the speedy retrieve ratios these reels offer. To learn more about the Curado search our website for item number 38-352-966-00
