Rated 4.1 out of 5 by 7 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by manual bail The reel is smooth, but after a year the bail-trip quit working. I rinse it after every salt water use and lube it well. But hey, manual bail trips aren't that much of a problem. January 27, 2014
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not what it seems This is a subpar reel, for the undiscerning US consumer. A step down from the older pure Zaion reels (such as Fuego A). They're smooth, but heavier than advertised here or on Daiwa's website. In fact, check it out on the box. For example, the 1500 and 2000 which are supposed to weigh 7.6oz, weigh in fact 8.5oz (even says so on the box). Daiwa used to offer a US all Zaion reel less pricey than the Steez, and that was the Fuego. Not anymore, these new ones (Procyon and Ballistic) are not all Zaion and are in reality much heavier than advertised. August 24, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Best reel I've ever fished with Ive done my research and the Daiwa Procyon is hands down the best all around spinning reel for the price out there!! This reel is very lightweight, smooth as silk on casting as well as the retrieve, and ruggedly built for those long days of constant fishing!! The waterproof drag system works flawlessly. I honestly can say that I think Daiwa spinning reels are leaps and bounds ahead of the other big fishing reel manufacturers with their constant introduction of new technology to the spinning reel world of fishing!! The Procyon is an excellent choice for medium action freshwater and saltwater fishing. This reel is completely sealed and waterproof to give you years of flawless fishing, even in saltwater due to it corrosion resistant construction!! Move over Shimano,Team Daiwa is quickly catching up!! June 27, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by T.D. Procyon 3000SH Rock solid construction, engineering and overall bomb-proofness in a reasonably priced package. I use this reel for Salmonid pursuits;casting 1/2-3/4 oz. spoons from all access points into & out of L. Michigan:I've yet to be spooled &/or "fouled" via this machine's error. Running 10Lb. Fireline w/a fluorocarbon leader of equal or slightly lesser weight rating, linked strictly by a back-to-back uni-knot, hooking, fighting and landing quarry in the 15-25 Lb. range-some days CPR'd well over 15 fish-I have absolutely ZERO complaints. Hi, thank you for your question. Per the manufacturer, the Procyon 1500 and 2000 reels weigh the same. The catalog and box both say 8.5 ounces and that is correct.
