Purchased this product with some confusion regarding the RBZ Fairway and RBZ Tour Fairway since the items look very similar in the pictures. Did some research and to clarify, they come in different lofts and head sizes, but more importantly, they have different shafts. The RBZ Fairway uses a very light shaft less than 50gm (Matrix X-con 5) and has a larger club head (190 cc). This club is designed more so for beginner to intermediate players. The RBZ Tour Fairway uses a more standard shaft of around 75gm (Matrix X-con 7) and has a much smaller club head (170 cc). This combination would be marketed to a more accomplished player who is looking for shot shaping and a lower trajectory.
I am a single handicap player and picked up the RBZ 13 degree Tour Spoon fairway wood. I have to say this club has the hottest face I've hit to date. Well struck balls have a medium to low trajectory and just bores through the air. I don't consider myself an exceptionally long hitter, but got some 260 yard drives off the tee with this. Off the ground, because of the lower loft, it does take a good swing to get this airborne, but well struck balls have prodigous length. I reached the green on a 256yd carry over a ravine on a par 5 with this club (although slightly downhill and downwind aided). I am very impressed with this new offering from Taylormade and the "speed pocket" is no joke. This thing is a monster.
I would recommend this club to any golfer who has a repeatable, consistent swing who isn't looking for game improvement, but pure distance, control, and a lower trajectory. If you are looking for a club that will help get the ball airborne and help you hit it relatively straight, you would be better served to select the RBZ fairway wood and not the tour version.
