Based on the extensively tested, duty proven, and widely used Beretta double action autoloading design, the Taurus PT-92 9mm Large Frame High Capacity Pistol takes that design a step further. The PT-92 design starts with an incredibly strong hammer forged steel slide and specially designed drop hammer forged ordnance grade alloy frame that won't crack. This large frame pistol also features Taurus' three position frame mounted ambidextrous safety, which serves as a double action decocking lever and allows the gun to be carried cocked and locked. Checkered rubber grip for sure handling. Fixed one dot front sight. Built-in Picatinny accessory rail. The PT-92 also features a loaded chamber indicator and locking Taurus Security System for extra peace of mind. Stainless steel finish. Weight: 34 oz. Capacity: 17+1.

Owned this sidearm for 9yrs. this is one of my guns that is NOT FOR SALE...EVER! i have carried it concealed (not overly easy) as well as open. Never had any issue from the gun with well over 20k rounds thru it.
Bottom line - id buy over the Beretta simply due to the decock lever always returning to the neutral position and allowing double action just in case.
Holster rash also buffs out very easily with the stainless finish

Serving several years in the army and being a MP we carried the beretta pt 92 as a side arm. So when I saw this and it was made by Taurus I knew I had to have it. I got it and immediately fell in love with the Taurus Pt 92. Its accurate and very easy to use. Low recoil you can get decently price ammo for it, and it's just a whole lot of fun. Now it's definitely not a conceal carry type of weapon. But it's a great range and home defense weapon. I highly recommend.

the first time i used this gun i fired 8 rounds and one side of the grip fell off. the inserts in the frame had fallen out so i had to send it back to taurus. when it came back i took it back to the range. after two magazines the rear sight fell off. Back to the factory again. when it came back i traded it for a Berreta.
Two trips to the factory before i even finished one box of ammo.

Rated 5 out of 5 by exphys2010 Beautiful, Quality Semi-auto
This is without question, the best pistol I have ever owned or fired (even compared to Rugers, Glocks, and Berretta's). In the stainless steel version, its is definitely a beauty. It is equipped with a very convenient and functional safety/decocker, and fits great in my hand. Very easy to field strip, and therefore easy to clean. It is extremely accurate and reliable. It has had 0 malfunctions after ~1000 rounds and is capable of producing better patterns than my more expensive pistols (in my hands at least). Overall, I would rank the quality of this pistol in the same range as semi-autos that cost twice the price.
