Works OK I picked up this winch with the BPS gift card that I received after purchasing a new boat earlier this year. It installed on the trailer with only a little modification. The bolt pattern on the winch lined up just fine with the bolt pattern on the winch mount but I had to shim up the unit with some washers to make it level with the bow hook on the boat. I also purchased the optional wiring kit from a separate vendor because it was continually on back-order from BPS. The wiring kit adds to the cost of the installation but it certainly makes the hook-up much better and the installation looks much cleaner. I have used this unit a few times and it pulls the boat out of the water and up onto the trailer just fine. Be aware that it is not necessarily as fast as you might think. Pull rate is 6 feet per minute. The strap on the unit seems like it could be a little better in quality.........it just doesn't seem to be as heavy as the strap that was on my manual winch and I notice that it does stretch somewhat when loading the boat.....but so far no problems in limited use. I like the remote control unit very much. Honestly though, I would not normally have purchased this unit had it not been for my BPS Gift card......pretty pricey for what it actually does for you. If you have physical issues this could very well be the answer to your prayers. October 28, 2013
Trac Lite Outdoor Cruiser I ordered the winch even tough it was back ordered to my surprise i received my winch in just 4 days I was very happy with the fast shipping.the winch installed and fit my winch stand exactly as stated in the instructions. I drilled the two holes needed for mounting and bolted it on . and now the reason for the 4 stars. first the emergency manual crank handle is useless for a heavy boat metal is cheap and not long enough. second reason the lanyards for the connection covers were made from cheap sewing thread and were broken before I even installed the winch. I had to remove the cover and replace the lanyards with heavier nylon line now everything is ship shape the winch works perfectly but it was a day long project. July 14, 2013
Best thibg ever for my back I have a sustained back that requires surgery every 4 years of so and I was not able to use the fishing boat with the electric winch. It installed without any issues. My trailer had six holes that matched up with the three on the winch. The most difficult thing was running a power wire back from the battery. The remote was perfect and the winch pulled the boat up onto the trailer faster than I could have done it with the hand crank winch. Now I can enjoy getting out on the water and fishing again June 29, 2013
Not for pontoon Does not fit on the trailer tha came with the Bass Buggy 18 ft DLX Fishing pontoon. Looks like a good winch but wood have to retrofit the trailer winch riser on the pontoon. Too much fabbercation for this old fisherman. Would fit on a horazontal riser but not on a vertical angle one. May 12, 2013

Details:
Is it possible to adapt the power wire from the winch to plug into the receptacle for a 12v trolling motor. Thinking the boat could be driven onto the trailer as far as possible, then with a dock hook reach down and grab a loop on the connector from the winch and plug it into the receptacle and use remote control. Boat is Tracker TXW175.

A:
I think the answer to your question would be YES, you could wire it to your trolling motor plug but I would not recommend it because when you need to use your winch you will need all the amps and volts from your 12V battery to get the boat on the trailer and to make sure you do not burn up the winch from lack of power. Your trolling motor battery after fishing will not be strong enough and safe to do what you ask.

Yes all 3 units of trailer winches by Trac Outdoors work with either rolling or flat bunks as long as they are under the length/weight limits for the particular unit.

the winch comes with an emergency crank handle but it is not very durable or long enough and I doubt it would winch in a heavy boat I hope this helps.

Yes, but the crank handle length is short so it may be had to use. I am in the process of building a better handle.

Yes there is, but the crank that comes with it looks/feels a little sketchy. I would hate to have to rely on it to get my boat out of the water.

There are three mounting bolts included with the unit. There is some ability to adjust the mounting bolts to accommodate different trailer winch platform holes. You might possibly have to drill some new mounting holes however.

the winch bolts in a T formation two at the back and one on the front. . and the winch mounts form the bottom to the winch stand. You need a Flat surface to mount this winch correctly.

Two bolts on the bottom at the back and one on the front. They are in slots so there is flexibility in placement.

It has a pair of bolts which drop through the holes in the front, and a single, slotted hole which allows you to adjust for the back. Obviously, it depends on which way you are facing, but it will bolt up to your existing bolt pattern
